Java Problem...
Join to comment
So I have been trying to upload a creation for a contest I'm in, but both uploaders won't let me upload anything. I think it has to do with Java or something, but I have updated/installed Java 2 times already and tried different web browsers. The "newer" uploader gives me this,

http://www.mocpages.com/lib/uploader2010/upload_FORM.php?main=

I'm not sure if you can see message, but instead of saying "Choose images to upload" it says "Error. Cick for details"

Then a error window pops up saying "ClassNotFoundExeption"
underneath it reads jmaster.jumploader.app.JumpLoaderApplet.class

It has a details button also, when you click that it has some coding,

Java Plug-in 10.10.2.18
Using JRE version 1.7.0_10-b18 Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
User home directory = C:UsersCollin
-----
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
l: dump classloader list
m: print memory usage
o: trigger logging
q: hide console
r: reload policy configuration
s: dump system and deployment properties
t: dump thread list
v: dump thread stack
x: clear classloader cache
0-5: set trace level to <n>
-----

Any ideas?

My comment with the coding went to moderation :1

This hasn't happened with me before. I'm not sure whether there is something wrong with the uploader, or it's just the Java. Wait for Sean or Chris to reply.

If you can't upload images via MP, I suggest Flickr or Brickshelf. I personally use Flickr, but any image hosting site that gives you HTML coding will work.

So pretty much - if can't get this to work - I just sign up for a Flickr account, and get the image HTML from thereand post it on MOCpages..?

I just signed up for a Flickr account, but when I upload the pictures it doesn't give me the HTML. How do I get the picture's HTML?

Also, how would you get the main photo onto MP, because there is no place on the MP uploader to put the HTML for the main photo...

I just signed up for a Flickr account, but when I upload the pictures it doesn't give me the HTML. How do I get the pictures to HTML?

Under the "Share" tab, click "Grab the HTML/BBCode." Click that, choose "Medium 500 (350x500)" and check the HTML box. Grab that HTML and your pics will automatically be hosted from Flickr to work on MP. They show up in high-def, so your pics will be crisper than they are with the MP Uploader. The Flickr photo (when clicked on to enlarge) will automatically bring you to Flickr to view the image in a bigger view. If you REALLY want to blow up the image, click on it while you are viewing it on Flickr (or press L), the lightbox will come up. From there, in the upper right hand corner there will be a "View All Sizes" option. Click that, and you can now which picture size you want to look at to zoom in on the photo.

I always use the 350x500 setting because it is the same size as a normal photo that is uploaded using the MP uploader, it also does not cover the groups you have added the moc to here on MP like a bigger photo option would.

In that case, how would you get to post a main photo? I could use that system for the other pics, but not necessarily the main pic.

That was kind of what I was wondering too?

It does sound like a java issue, but if you have updated to the latest version I'm at a loss as to what to suggest.

Try switching to a different internet browser, sometimes there can be conflicts between updates to firefox and out of date add-ons.

You could try seeing if installing an "older" version of java fixes the problem, you'd need to google the right page as I don't have any links at the moment.

I have already tried switching internet browsers, but I will try and see if I can install an older version of Java.

Unfortunately, MP will not allow you to get a main pic by hosting it to Flickr. I'm not exactly sure how you could get the main pic if Java isn't working right, try the old uploader if you can.

Firstly, the old uploader (and by that I assume you mean the "simple uploader") does not use Java in any way, so any Java errors you see or have posted above relate only to the new uploader.

Secondly, you don't appear to have described what happens exactly when you attempt to use the simple uploader. Or *how* you attempt to use it for that matter. From what I can tell the link to the simple uploader only appears if you have Java disabled. If you have Java enabled but the Java uploader fails, I'm not sure if there's a way to use the simple uploader unless you first disable Java and allow it to redirect you to the simple uploader instead.

A description of how you got into the simple uploader and exactly what went wrong would increase your chances of getting help here.

Not sure about the Java uploader, but the simple uploader is really struggling at the moment. Sometimes when you click the button to upload your file(s) nothing happens. Sometimes it completes but then comes up with a blank page rather than the "click to continue" page that also inserts the HTML back into your original "Add a LEGO creation page". Sometimes you get the "click to continue" page but the images are missing. Retrying, especially doing one image at a time, often results in success next time around.

When I try to use the simple uploader, I pick my picures to upload, then it loads and just gives me a blank page... But I will try to upload them one at a time.

I've uploaded around 25 images in the last 30 hours or so with the simple uploader, but I probably had to perform over 50 uploads to get those 25 images to work. Many of the attempts failed at the blank page. Some of them failed in slightly different ways. But I got them all up eventually by persevering and doing them one at a time. Maybe that will work for you too.

If you try to upload multiple pictures but end up with the blank page at the end of the upload process then it's possible some of them succeeded and will show from your "my photos" page, but unless you reconstruct the HTML for them you'd be better deleting them and uploading them again.

Thanks for all of your guys' help! I got the simple uploader to work for the main image, and I used the Flickr pics HTML code for the rest of the pictures!

I think overall the whole uploader needs a cleaning. I'm having to upload several times cause some pictures just won't load. It could be my Java but I know some other guys who are having similar problems.

Thats the same issue i had some 14days ago. Using firefox and Java. I reinstalled both java and firefox, also cleared all .ini files and registry. That didnt solve my problem. However my workaround for it is to use Chrome whenever i need to upload images. Not the best of solutions using two diffrent browsers. But it does the job.

This always happens to me. All I do to solve it is click the button that says, "Try the simple uploader"

Hope that helps :)

We've established that; the issue is that for some people, the simple uploader is broken too.

Yeah, it's obvious there's some kind of problem. We've got reports of image loading issues coming in from several threads.

I'm having trouble looking into this as well, due to page loading problems. There are some people obviously still loading images without difficulty (two new pages with images this morning, for example). Unfortnately, I don't have the time at the moment (at work right now) to do too much investigating.

For what it's worth, I did send an email to Sean, telling him that we've got several claims regarding the image loading (as well as potential email problems). Hopefully, he can let us know shortly if he's found any problems on his end.

Can you point us to such an example?

The only MOCs that I've seen added in the last 3 days have a blank main picture (because the MOCpages uploader doesn't work for anyone) and those with images are only because those are external images (such as Flickr images).

As far as I can tell, it's a total failure of the uploader for everyone.
