sorry about my monstrosity of a hard suit , it was kind of slap dashed together and its not very pose-able,it does have some nice dash wheels on its feet though. the main thing i have trouble with when making a good hard suit is clever and functional joints(as you can see) that look good, if any one wants to share i will give them credit when ever i use it if I do Permalink | December 31, 2008, 9:42 pm |

Hi Knoll,
I think it looks great. Keep up the creative spirit. If you're using a digital camera, remember to turn on "macro." It's the little flower button on the camera. That will help you focus on smaller lego things. What I've learned is if using flash, stand farther away from the lego and zoom in. Since you're using flash it won't be blurry. But standing farther away prevents the flash from overwhelming the lego with a blur of white. Keep posting great stuff. If you're on flickr, come join my group there. Just look up my screen name in flickr.

its my understanding that it means don't post the same hardsuit twice, seeing as how if the rule is only one picture on the actual page every one of us has failed in that regard... hope that helps-M.K.

One pic per suit. If you have a bunch of suits you can post one pic of each. A hardsuit, I assume looks like a suit for wearing. If you think we would like seeing it, I'm sure it's fine to post here. I'm not too picky. Permalink | January 3, 2009, 3:56 am |

Hey Pete, i was just looking at your GreyGoose and I was wondering how you get those perfect white backgrounds, I've tried before by setting up a piece of paper on the floor and another stood up against the wall, but this leaves gaps between the floor and wall pieces, also, what camera do you use? thanks in advance...-M.K. Ah yes, the white background. If you look at my other pictures it's ugly gray even though the background was a white calendar. I used photoshop to make it white. If you want it relatively white, use white poster board of white table cloth and a super bright light like a desk lamp. My GrayGoose was actually shot at 6am with a tripod. I kept the lens open for 8 seconds. It makes the dark room look like bright daylight. I think the easiest way is to just get a big white background and some good strong lighting. Don't use flash if you want to be professional looking. Use a box to rest the camera to minimize shaking. Set the camera to take a picture in 10 seconds and walk away. If you want to use flash, stand back at least two feet and zoom in.

This may not be an official definition but "an extension of one's self." The heck does that mean? Perhaps just stick to the question, "Can it be worn?"

Test word: Car.

well obviously the word hard suit is not cut and dry. Pete's definition is good but I think that is still very loose...Will's definition also has its merits, saying it should look like armor is a good guideline, rather than a hard and fast rule. Caleb said that it comes down to size which is certainly an important factor. But really I think that common sense should guide us in this matter, there is a dividing line between mecha and hardsuits but we cant really put down rules to divide them. Sorry for the long-winded post...-M.K. Permalink | January 5, 2009, 6:16 pm |

my personal policy on t-joints is "avoid if at all possible"
I prefer 1 x 1 bricks with one, two, or four extra studs on the sides.
if you look at my Phoenix, the second version on that page has those as the basic joint for the arms.
hope that... answers your question in any way, shape, or form.

The blog is so there can be a dedicated Lego blog for hardsuits. It's also a way to feature more builders that would normally not be blogged by BrothersBrick. The blog shouldn't be viewed as anything serious, more just a moc BrothersBrick with the ideals of Hardsuits Unite!
If any of you want to be a writer for the blog let me know. It's a simple process. When you're browsing lego pages and see a mech or hardsuit that makes you say, "wow" post it up on the blog and write a few short sentences about why it's awesomeness. If you are unfamiliar with HTML I can give you a template where you just copy and paste the pic URL and link URL to the builder. It should take no more than 5 min to make a blog post. And you're only expected to contribute if and when you see an unique jaw-dropping Lego hardsuit floating around the net. Permalink | January 23, 2009, 6:56 pm |

oh, no no no. I just reread what I wrote, and it sorta sounds like I'm getting on your case, I'm not. I was laughing the entire time I wrote that. I was trying to get across that I though it was really funny as well as off-topic, I guess my sense of humor doesn't translate well into text. Sorry for the confusion.

I am so sorry. Life is such a wonderful thing, and when something that is close to us loses life, it is quite heart wrenching, I will pray for you...
