I am considering making custom Lego sets of my MOCs. They will include detailed packaging and instructions.

Here's a preview: http://i40.tinypic.com/dxxpxw.jpg

What do you guys think?

Sounds good, but with the current prices of lego, I expect I wouldn't be able to afford a single one.

I will be buying bulk new parts from Bricklink for cheap for these sets, to minimize price for these. I've seen other custom set builders such as Brickmania sell a 381 piece set w/ instructions for $80 + S&H. My prices will be more reasonable.

I'm going to be making minor modifications to the production version of these MOCs to make building easier, but they will still look great. I'm thinking of setting up my own website to sell these.

Nobody knows or cares about VC outside of MOCpages. Plus, I might be making other MOCs as sets, such as my Maintenance Mech. I thought of BrickMechanica last night and I think it's a pretty cool name.

The production version of Gospel will be modified more heavily, but it will still basically be Gospel. Particularly, the shield will be modified, gun will be revised, and lower legs will be a little thinner. The parts cost for Gospel was pretty ridiculous, so yeah, it probably would be most expensive.

Shrike is a possibility, too, but it will have to come later. I will have to start with just two custom sets, since the upfront capital cost of buying extra parts for these sets is pretty high for me. I want to see if there is demand for custom mecha sets first.

I estimate there are 300-400 pieces in Sabre, and buying bulk pieces for two of these sets would cost $70-80. Therefore, the price of one set would probably be in the $50-70 range, including printed instructions.

If you read that correctly, I said parts would cost $35-40 for one set. I would sell it at $50-70 due to the labor I'd put into making these sets.

Gospel will definitely have alternate weapons. Sabre will include 8 guns when/if I release the set. Keep in mind that it may be 1 or 2 months before I actually put out a set for sale, since I'm busy with school right now and I have yet to buy all the bulk parts and make instructions and packaging for the sets.

Everything is still in the making. I have ordered the parts needed for 5 Sabre sets, though. They will be arriving within the next 2 weeks, then I'll get to making instructions. Expect that it will cost $60 per set. My preliminary piece count is 410. Note that some of the parts are quite rare and had to be bought from Germany, since no other sellers had them.

Dali... If you made the Venus Gospel into a set it would be a million times cooler if it had a guitar and amp.

I might sell the guitars/amp as a seperate set, since they are a huge amount of parts (around 300).

Oh Wow! I would never of guessed they had that many pieces. Do you think you could make instructions for them any time soon?

I might, there seems to be demand. I would probably order parts to make it a limited edition set first. I'd also modify it a little for the set version to make it look a little better, maybe throw in some decals. I'd make Venus Gospel as a set, first.

I don't take my MOCs apart anymore (usually). Right now, I have 7 assembled MOCs.

I wish I could do that with my newest mechs, but I am in need of some new parts. I'm out of 5 stud 1X1 bricks :(

Probably. The Gospel set would cost around $140 (that is the price of parts for my initial build). So if I sell one set, I've just offset my cost for building the Gospel. If I sell more than one, profit for me.

One thing, you said that didn't use all of the pieces that you purchased on making the Gospel. Therefore wouldn't the Gospel cost slightly less the what you purchased the pieces for?
