Are your lego creations really remote control vehicles?

Yes, they are.

All of them use new LEGO motor system called "Power Functions" (PF)which replaced earlier 9v motor system. One of the things that was added to PF was Infra-Red controller. You can basically tell use IR sender to tell the motors to go backwards or forwards. The more luxurious IR sender which is more aimed for Trainheads also allows the user of the sender to control the speed the motors are running.

Yes, both of them need batteries but so do all other RC vehicles.
