I'm sorry, but I'm reluctant to allow them, as I feel those models are not designed in a similar mindset as the Creator products.

Can I add an alternative to a Promotional creator set? Specifically, 7799.

If you're adding extra parts, then certainly not! Also I believe that modifications of a set are not very interesting in general. I prefer to see something quite different in this group, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one!

If it says Creator, it's fine, even the promotional stuff.

Can I add an alternative of 4120? It seems like a mix between a designer set and a brick bucket. Instructions are given for lots of models, but it comes in a bucket...

This is really one of those doubtful sets, whether or not they would fit in here. Just to be on the safe side, I'd rather say no to this one. Thanks for asking!

Recently I added my 10220 Alternate VW T1 Pickup version, But after recently removing someones creation from the group because it broke the rules (Combined two sets and added additional pieces to it) I started to question whether or not my 10220 Alternate fits in the group. What do you think NathanaŽl?

It's certainly in the grey zone, especially that nowadays this set would be considered a Creator Expert. I'm actually not so happy that TLG changed the name for this product line, because I actually think that these models don't really fit in Creator: they lack the 3 in 1 concept. So perhaps it's better to not allow alternates from these sets, also because they often include more specialized pieces...

Your absolutely right about it being a gray area, And as a moderator I should set the right example. Therefore I will remove my VW T1 Pickup from the group as it's not really a true alternate (It's a mod with single set piece restriction.) and let the
'Austin A40 - VW Bus Alternate' stay in the group: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/309776 because it's simply to good to remove ;)
