So, what armies do you play in 40k. I play Ultramarines with a mithril silver stripe on the shoulder pad. I have about 6000 points of marines. Now its your turn!-TJ Roth

matt finished converting the baneblade. he wouldn't stop complaining about cutting up sprues for the billions of rivets on the hull. and another of my friends is making an eldar firewalker titan out of a spiderman action figure by cutting off the arms at the wrists and replacing them with pens for bright lances!

WOW! I also play Ultramarines but with a golden stripe on the shoulder pad. But I only have 849 points (so far).

Hi guys! Just thought I'll join Your group, as I'm planning to make many Warhammer MOCs in the future. Right now I've only builded a stormblade (and a puny orc-salvaged leman russ). Altought I don't play the tabletop game (too expensive for me) I'm a big fan of Dawn of war. My favourite faction would be hmm... well I like them all!:D (except for dark eldar-boooring).

Edit: Oh. and the next ones in building are IG Leman Russ, Killa Kan, and Thousand Sons' Dred.

If you want to escape the limitations of LDD, use LDraw, unfortunately, LDraw + PC didn't work well for me...either way, I got to use LDraw for a couple of days. I found that while you could use every lego brick ever, and make each brick any shade of color you want, LDraw it was a little ponderous, but that was probably because I didn't know where to find bricks. Also, LDraw doesn't automatically connect bricks, you have to align them just right. While this allows you to simulate some of the weird stuff you can do with lego, it really is a pain. My final assessment is: only use LDraw if you really need a greater variety of pieces or if your building in a weird color.

Can we do a contest?

I'm no admin but I think that's a splendid idea. What do you think we should create?

I don't know. Here are our options for categories that I have: vehicles(skimmers or tracked), infantry (partially brickbuilt and have to be a little larger than humans in game world, ex: terms, wraithgaurd, stealthsuit), power suits (ex: crisis suits, wraithlords, dreadnoughts). Tyranids, orks, and chaos are unfamiliar to me, but following those guidelines they should be easily grouped. However, I think our first contest's only category should be Warhammer 40k.

well, i think the category of WH 40k is a bit obvious xD

the contest sounds like a great idea, and i would vote for vehicles because i don't think there's too many options in LDD for WH scale human size things.

Yeah, I agree, but sometimes people just want to do minifigs. So from what I hear from you, you're going along the lines of vehicles with large Tryanid creatures and their Chaos equivalent?

Why don't we have several different categories instead of a one-category contest.
Possible Categories:
Minifigs
Vehicles (Anything from a Tau Crisis Suit to an Imperator Titan is fair game in this one)
Diorama/Vignette/Scene of Some Form

ahh, another good idea. after we get the categories sorted... well, what would be the prizes? personally i don't think i could help with that (only 15 and don't have a lot of money) anyway, categories: Minifigs, Vehicles, Large Creatures, Diorama... maybe a specific category for titans? but that would be a very empty category.

i'll open a separate thread for the planning so we can stop cluttering up the general discussion board.

I'd enter just for bragging rights. Sometimes the finished creation is reward enough.
Good too see this idea is in consideration.

why not use LDraw? you can animate your creations once you've made them, and it has lots more piecies than LDD. Bit more compllicated though

I know we're not really on the subject of what our army is anymore, but i haven't said yet, so...
I have over 1,000 points of orks, and im also building up armies of Space Wolves (Pre-Heresy) and Grey Knights. Sorry, but I don't like space marines. I find that they are too easy to win with, hence using Space Wolves
