I'm happy that you're the first to join with Uspez ! I'll add my MOCs right now.

Don't know how I'll drive the group (it's the first time i'm an "admin") but I think it can be cool and fun to have a little place to talk about our good old space sets and MOCs :)

Same here, nice idea for a group. I added some of my recolours of space models as well as the transport. Its the spectral star guider cockpit and cab doubled up.

In fact, the idea for this group was from Shannon Ocean. He has done a lot of awesome neo-classic space MOCs, even a Spyrius one. He told me his idea to start a group on that, and... here it is :) Hats off to Shannon !

Very cool idea Crimso! I was really wanting a group like this but was thinking more like one group per faction, like a Blacktron group, a Space Police group and so on. An all encompassing group like this is a much better idea though!
Hmm.. now that I added mine I'm surprised that there are only three. I really have to build some more.

Thanks Uspez :) Once again it's Shannon idea at the start. I have invited a lot of people but maybe some of them are not active on MOCpage anymore.
I'm happy that you're here :D

I was surprised too, when you make a search on MOCpage with keywords like "Blacktron" or "Ice-Planet" there's not a lot of MOCs (less thatn custom clones anyway) - Hovewer I think I'll build a lot of nostalgic MOCs this year, hope I won't be the only one to do it ! ;)

He's invited obviously. I just can't BELIEVE this MOC really exist. It's the masterpiece MOC in this category I think. Could be exposed near the "Invisible Hand" without fearing the comparison.

Hey gang: since this is the general conversation page I thought I'd post this link given to me by Yokomode01. It's a name generator, useful for when you're stuck for naming your retro space ships/minifigs/etc.

Here are two sections I thought might be relevant to the Nostaligia Factory; a ship namer with ridiculously long suggestions. Example:
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=spaceshiptype

And in the humour section a cartoon name generator made to sound like cheesy 80's cartoons. Example:
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=merchcartoon

Just press the "generate" button to recieve new suggestions.

Clever :) I've got a Futuron X-Wing which gonna be posted very soon. It's not totally accurate to a X-wing, I was just thinking that I wanted to do some SW vehicles and mix them with our Nostalgic stuffs... Well I hope you'll like it. I wanted also to write a backstory a bit unkind for Clone Lovers, telling that Futuron is so much cooler than a "Republic stuff that was made thousand times", but... let's respect the kids pleasure lol - Anyway I would be happy to see MOCs like that by you, dudes ;-)

No I do like your Futuron idea anyways mate! The more the merrier I say. I don't think anyone's done a Futuron x-wing before. I've seen a lot of classic space x-wings and even Blacktron TIE fighters (but I can't find the link again). Anyway, here's a CS X-wing you may/may not've seen:

Interesting Shannon. I would fight along side you! Actually, I was thinking that my Space Poser (while also representing all the annoying Clones who just don't get it) was sent from the Star Wars universe to spy on Space. Do you guys think that a series of vignettes making fun of Star Wars and the Clones would bring too much hate down on me or should I just go for it?

For the "war": Uspez, I asked myself the same question, because I wanted to make the "Clown War" lol I think that laughing at the Clones can be a bit risky, but after all it's the freedom of speech... - I wanted to do something on the se-x practices of the Clones by example...

Haha! I like it! Revenge of 80s! Or was it 70s? Whatever! If there's gonna be a war, consider your sci-fi technology stolen by the Blacktron Empire! Weird, cause I'll be fighting alongside of you...

Guess I'll have to put in that Bricklink order for more of my army uniforms, huh?

Also, since the Classic Space themes are a bit more realistic (no lightsabres, just awesome missiles and hardcore hand weapons) than SW, we're gonna have some kind of awesome uber weapon to counter the Force, right? Right?

Go Bricklink, Mate. I would be happy to see a large army of Blacktron Astronauts !

The force is cool, but it'll never beat a Galaxy Explorer. And the Classic Spacemen rules because they're smiling: it means that they're cooler than clones: they love sex, good food, B-Movies, Beatles (see the bright colors of their uniforms) and everything which is good in life :D

Are the ships limited solely to the Clone Wars, or can we use any ship from the SW universe?

I liked our old system actually. I look at some other groups that have been inundated by annoying members and I'd hate it if that happened to us. Even though approval is needed it would only take one bad egg to cause an exponential growth in bad eggs. So yeah, I think leaving the invite power in your and Shannon's hands is the best idea. Maybe I'm just being paranoid though.

Well for the moment the only person who wanted to join was Dave Shaddix, so no problem for the moment lol - I suggest to let the group with joining approval for two or three days and see what'll happen. You're right Uspez about annyoying people, but I'm almost sure that the subject of the group will mostly be appealing for mature people, so I try - Once again, tell me if you're really annoying about that, of course I won't continue in that case :-)

Yeah, I know what you mean about the mood. I can't always be building...sometimes I'm just not inspired. Other times I can go on several months-long building mega-binges. Anyone else out there do that? Or are you all steady builders?

Kind of hard to say. I haven't built anything of too much interest lately, but I sometimes really creep myself out. Like last week, I was at my parents and my aunt was there. She was busy speaking with my dad, and since I was waiting to ask my dad something, I mindlessly built a micro hotel on an 8x8 plate. I liked it so much I think I'll be posting it later.

I hate to post something this off-topic but there is a very cool group I just discovered and this seems like the best way to tell you guys. [http://mocpages.com/group.php/3044] The MOCcomparison group. So far most of the stuff isn't what we'd be interested in (full scale guns) but the latest spaceship build caught my interest and the concept is very cool. Two builders build the same thing then post at the same time to see how each one turned out. I'd be down with spaceship concept art or just crazy concept art in general.

Greeting gentlemen. I thought it was about time I said hello and acknowledged my gratitude for the invite as I have great respect for the work of builders that I have so far viewed on this site. ----- Special thanks to Crimso who pretty much encouraged me from the start, cheers.

Reading through the comments I find myself in complete agreement with you Yuri. -----I kind of just added a bunch of stuff without thinking, and have consequently removed the crapier ones. -----Afterall, most people who view a groups creations I supposse look at the first 5 or so pages and then stop, so I understand the last thing any one wants is to have a new guys stuff plastered all over them so that any potential tourists only see their stuff. ----- Pleae accept my apology on that score, it really did not occur to me until just now. -----I think most established group members would unlikely ever add more than two in any given day in any event, I suppose the idea would be to just comunicate to new members in a polite way to only add say their current three most popular creations, and to then just continue adding new stuff like everyone else?

The last thing I suppose any one on this site wants is page after page of 'whatever' creations. I will only post to this group what I consider my better stuff from now on.

Cheers guys, and I look forward to chatting again. Keep building!

I removed some of my crapier stuff and will only add what I consider a good MOC from now on, the last thing any of us wants is for the site to be overloaded with 'whatever' creations.
Cheers guys, I hope my other message got through, as it is far more detailed. Keep building!

This may well have already been asked, but are Space Police III MOCs accepted in the group pool? It's mostly the reason I joined, given I just uploaded two of them.

That's actually a good question; I can't recall if it's been answered before. It also hints at the question of what to do in the future when/if Blacktron 3 arises...

I'll leave this one to Crimso to decide. Personally, I'm usually pretty laid back when it comes to rules and stuff. This group is intended to explore old themes of the 80's and 90's but a few SP3 mocs wouldn't hurt; indeed it might be interesting to see some SP3 ships blended with the old Space Police sets???

Thanks Shannon, I think the same way. I'm a bit purist but not too much. This group is about old theme but ALSO the new ones, like SPIII, as long as they're in way connected to the spirit of Classic Space. It means YES for SPIII and future "Space" ranges. I think even Mars Mission could be allowed, or maybe Power Miners. That said, the first goal is the main big themes of 80's and 90's (Futuron, Blacktron, Spyrius, Ice Planet ...). But you can add anything Space, related to actual Lego Space Themes of any era :-)

Ok! I guess I'll wait until Crimso gives the final verdict.

Hey guys...

Crimso, there's a new bloke on MOC pages by the name of Serrater I reckon you might want to take a look at and invite into the group. He looks like he is going to be a classic space genius.

Thanks for the info Parrington ! Sadly I've try to search MOCpages for his page and couldn't find anything. Maybe he changed his name ???

Hi all!

I just wanted to introduce myself and to thank Crimso for the invitation (cool, my first group invite!).

My name is David, but people in the online LEGO community mostly know me by my nickname, Daz Hoo. I'm a long standing member of FBTB and I'm part of QuLUG, Quebec's LEGO User group, since it started back in 2006.

I'm looking foward to seeing and commenting on all your creations!

Welcome David ! Always a pleasure to have one more fan of Classic Space with us. This group is not very active, we're not talking a lot, but it's a solid place for all the "retro" space MOCs, with some fine MOCers like Uspez Morbo and Shannon Ocean. I hope you'll make more MOCs soon :-)

G'day guys. This one's for Crimso or Shannon, there is a new guy called J B - http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/44783 - who I'm sure would be good for this group. He has opened up with a real classic futuron ship that's really sweet.

Hey, what a cool idea for a group !

Though not quite supposed to be part of the classic sets; my "Black Sun Empire" models are heavily influenced from the Blacktron II and Spyrius series, and the white ones more from the Exploriens (and general retro sci-fi styling) - I think they'll be happy here among so many similar-minded people :)

You can add any of your Sci-fi creations, Dan, as you said they're close in style to the themes here, and they're cool, so no problem :-)

Greetings to everyone from my side of the world!

My sincerest appreciation for letting me join.

Something about me:

I am from the Philippines, gov't employee (just another cog in the bureaucracy), rediscovered Lego after being unemployed for half a year before being employed again. I was born in 1976.

Lego was my first toy - on and off building when I get the itch. Went into a hiatus for a long time. All my sets are pre-1986! It is only lately that I've been buying something new.

My passions are Transformers, movies (horror[especially the Cthulhu Mythos], fantasy and science fiction-books too) and aquariums (nanos anyone?).

Well, since most of my pieces are old, I guess there is no problem with recreating something from the past just for old times sake.

I'll post my LegoTown (more of a Legohamlet) ASAP.

See you soon!

In fact, the idea for this group was from Shannon Ocean. He has done a lot of awesome neo-classic space MOCs, even a Spyrius one. He told me his idea to start a group on that, and... here it is :) Hats off to Shannon !

I don't have any UFO sets, but I've bought some parts on BL so maybe someday I'll make a MOC... I don't know why anybody except you are into UFO, maybe because it's too recent for nostalgia ? Anyway it was a cool theme :-)
