Hi guys, I'm not an admin in this group but I would like to collaborate with some ideas which I hope will serve to get more organized this competence.

first of all, I suggest that by the administrators and moderators will let the contenders know the results of the face off's via a message on his latest creation, so they got an email warning and each participant will know in time, I mention this because I almost missed the time of the competition because I´ve notticed four days before the deadline to show my entry.

And i suggest this format:
EXAMPLE:

To Henry Shepard.

Message: 1st round Faceoff is ready
You vs Rolands Kirpis
Category: 1900 to 1950
Deadline: october 8 2009
judging

And post this in the lastest creation on his page, thats it, and he was adviced.

Same thing for the judges.

Second, to define dates for each event, not just say "you have 15 days" better saying "you have until October 14"

moreover, suggest that the time to adapt to the days of the week, for example: every Saturday of each week we´ll published the results of the faceoff´s and the winners of the lastest.

The judging will take place every Sunday, or other Sunday as the case.

About judging the entries, I've been thinking about this a lot, how to make this more comfortable and more foreseeable. I think it is not too comfortable for organizators to look at each competitors creation and search for judges votes. So I suggest it to do the following way:

1) Admin post a new conversation topic, named, for instance, Results for Round 1 Group 1 and its content is as follows:

#####post 1 (belongs to JUDGE A)#####

PERSON A vs PERSON B
Category - CATEGORY A
Vote =

PERSON C vs PERSON D
Category - CATEGORY B
Vote =

#### post 2 (belongs to JUDGE B) #####

PERSON A vs PERSON B
Category - CATEGORY A
Vote =

PERSON C vs PERSON D
Category - CATEGORY B
Vote =

...

and the same does the rest of the judges, listing in his post all the entries wich he must judge, belonging to the group

2)When the judge decides whom to give his vote, he/she updates the post via edit options like this:

PERSON A vs PERSON B
Category - CATEGORY A
Vote = PERSON B

PERSON C vs PERSON D
Category - CATEGORY B
Vote = PERSON C

...

Other judges does the same. This way all ongoing result would be on one place, easy to set up next round for admin/moderator and also easy for contestants to see how everyone is doing.

Good? Bad? Any improvement??

I think to make it easier on the judges, The contestants should put what group they are in on the description. So then the judges can tell what creations they need to judge easier.

In my entries description I did it this way, and so did most of us. But this should not be a problem since Joel posted all the duels (and category) in one post. So you just copy that one. If the contestant missed it up, it's his fault for not receiving any of votes.

Another idea for this competition:
create an email address where people register and participants announce when publish their creations, that group is, that category, against whom, and in that round.
This way is easyer to the admin and the judges to stay informed, and organize better and quickly the faceoffs and the judging.

lets force the others to participate and stay pending by enforcing time limits, closing the races on the dates specified and if an opponent did not post in time its creation, then lose by default and that competition continues its due time.

I propose this because the people who is really interested in this competition deserves their time to be respected, and people who are not participating due not worth the wait.

A week or more without any activity?? Either there is something wrong with this competitions itself, either all are taken by school duties and no time left for LEGO. I think the mane idea of this competition is lost wile ago. This is not serious. Even no word from judges, at lest not in my group. And only two competitors asking for third bracket. I'm quite sure that no more that two entries can be expected from group 3. In two words, this is going nowhere. Start this over some time later...
