Cool idea, man! I never thought about making a top out of Lego. And if Phipson is in the house, than I'm there, dude!

Ohhh yeah... I remember doing that with at least half of the pieces I have in my Unused Pile a few days after I build something. Looks like I'll have to get out a few random pieces for this one!

Hey Yuri, thanks for the invite and boy what a great idea! One question: does the competition have a time limit? Right now I'm overwhealmed with work/family/housing-related projects... Not much time left for building :( I'll do my best and try to post something...

I know, that's why I DID NOT set a time limit...

Don't worry Chris, I'm not trying to make your head explode, I only made you MOD so you show on the main page. You're like a sort of a living ad, these days. :D

Yeah, quite a lot actually. There's this piece that I'll never use for anything else that should work really well as the top of a top to top it off and make it the top... top.

true, true. holding a contest is pretty tough around here, sorry for any violations on my part.

I built an over 10 piece top and it spins pretty well by hand but that wasn't enough for me. It's pretty easy to throw together a rip cord setup but it's way too fast for my current top and the thing flies apart. On to more research and development!

Ima join teh contest!?

I can't go a week without throwing a couple of tops together ya know? Anything that spins, fires, flies, jumps or skitters and I'm all over it... I just don't have any video software to post with =/

I will make a top though!
What about a launcher that fires 3 simultaneously... or an Elemental Toa that uses one in battle... or a top that flings little missiles when it's spinning... I like this contest so far :D

Considering I missed my oppertunity for the BIO-lympics, this should be fun. And don't try to invite me... I've not got time to make a big MOC like that now =/

in that case, I think I'll hold off on posting for a while. just to keep that competative edge.

Is a ripcord legal? I've been trying to push mine over a minute but the longest has been 52 seconds. If I pull too hard the top blasts into pieces, I love the old grey pieces though, so much more clutch power than the new ones. I'll post mine when I reach that holy 1 min mark.

Yes, a ripcord is legal. It will be up to the judges' personal taste if that grants you extra credit :)

I'm glad to see the number of entries is slowly but steadily increasing...
I hope many more will join and build, but what this group really lacks is... a bit of DRAMA!
