Rufus Griswold, who was Poe's executor, was actually a rival of his and he was a lying scoundrel. He is responsible for most of what the public believes about Poe's life and death.
Also, Poe's doctor, John Moran, had credibility problems, much like Michael Jackson's doctor.

Did you all see where the mysterious stranger who left brandy and black roses at Poe's gravesite on his birthday failed to do so this past January? That was always a cool little story, hope someone else picks it up next year.

I guess it's the end of an era. I really hope someone else picks up the tradition next year. I always thought it was a grand gesture.

I would if I lived in Baltimore, course, I would drink the brandy and leave the empty bottle

Anyway, Poe has always been one of my favorite authors, mostly for The Raven and The Fall of the House of Usher,. As a teenager I was into dark, moody things, (though I was NOT a proto-emo) and stories like Poe's works really got to me.

I have 2-3 collections of his work, they are all good. The detective one is great as well.

I searched the Pages for Pit and Pendulum mocs, and found only the one from Saw. I think I may do the classic Poe version, unless somebody else has done it elsewhere.

It's funny that I would find a thing about Poe in a children's book of selected comics from the old Snoopy (actually called Peanuts) comics. Lucy was explaining to her younger brother, Linus, about the story The Pit and The Pendulum (I think she was explaining it incorrectly) by saying there was a man and they tied him to a table, and the table kept rocking closer and closer to the man. As the two walked by, Lucy showed what she meant using Charlie Brown, tied to a tree, the kite going out the other end.
I have fantasies of strange things, such as people trapped in a hotel and couldn't get out until a deer-alien hybrid got out, a deadly mutant rat with two heads (one for flesh, the other for blood), a giant upright, futuristic, sunken, wide submarine that only rose when all of the zombies inside where killed, also only at night, but the zombies came back, back until you had turned the submarine back sideways, not to mention the classic Alien In The Window scary story. I happen to like the submarine one, myself.
Horror is kind of inexplainable. It's just hard to explain something scary without showing or having an example of it, and horror's also something you can't fight; having nightmares, for example, is something you can't stop. It comes and goes, depending on the thinks you've watched, read, or seen on the earlier day; sometimes even depending on the thoughts you've based yourself on earlier. It's hard to explain, like I said, but I've pretty much made a quick summary of what it can't do.
It's harder to shorten a comment about this topic, so I'll do my best, but the punishment of Horror is kind of (don't look here, kiddies) bada**, so I've explained a lot, experienced a lot, and I should really stop killing your ears right now, so stop the scary music, I'm leaving this comment for you to read.

Ok, you need to switch to decaf. That was one long, rambling comment, but you made some valid points.

Truth is, I can't. I've only got a few buckets of Legos, and I'm not good at color schemes or big builds. I'm just not; someone else could steal my ideas, I really don't care.

Unless I could get my parents to help, since I'm a YFOL :D.
Also, can I change bad-a to bad (a word)?

I typed a**, spelled out and it never showed or showed up on my page for clearance, so I guess it went to the big boys. Certain words are automatically moderated.

I used to have quite disturbing nightmares (consisting of twisted flashbacks of painful memories) when I moved back home after withdrawing from my first college (due to rising costs). It got so bad that I began to suffer from sleep deprivation, because I would dread falling asleep. This went on for about a couple months.

Then one night at Bible study, I decided to ask my friends there to pray for me, regarding the nightmare problem. They did, and I have not had a single nightmare since. That was about a year-and-a-half ago, and I still thank God for that healing.

That is a great story, glad that worked for you. I do not have nightmares, well...there is my ex-wife.

Ah Edgar Allan Poe one of the best poets of all time. The Raven is one of my favourite poems.

You know, it's the same with me. If a cat or a dog is sleeping on my bed, I feel more secure! All my bad thoughts (such as UFOs, ghosts, Jonas Bros., etc.) go away with a pet on my bed. It's freaky.

Mine too. My cat especially loves my fingers after I've eaten something Italian, Thai, etc., but not American food, except Popcorn, Cheese, and original-flavored potato chips. They're a bunch of fat cats. (well, not my third one, my third one's skin and bones. She's got some weird infection)

I hate the Jonas Bros. They're retarded retards. Also, Cole, why do you have only the LOWER part of that robot for your buddy icon, and not the head? I wonder...
