I see some nice models already in this group, so keep it up people. It would be interesting to know a bit about the different people here, and what you use for inspiration, if you do use anything. If anyone has any questions regarding models or help on a moc, just ask! Permalink
I am 37, married for 10 years, have 2 daughters (2nd grade and kindergarden). I live near San Francisco. I manage a City (a real one :). After work and family I enjoy golfing, hunting and collecting and MOCing Lego.
I have a LOT of Lego. All my building centers around the pirate/imperials theme. I have a huge army of original Redcoats, New Redcoats, Bluecoats, pirates, saliors, merchants and civilians. Probably over 1500 minifigures in my collection. All my current building is for one very large port named Brick Royal. It will be something on the scale of 12 x 16 feet.
My first and almost all childhood lego sets were Classic Space. The only Pirate set that I had new from the original line was Forbidden Island (by the time Pirates I came out I was into girls, sports and cars and not at all active with Lego but my folks always...even to this day buy me one "toy" for Christmas and they bought me Forbidden Island that year which remained in its box unopened in the back of my bedroom at my parents house for 10 years) though over the last decade I have collected multiple copies of all the non-impulse originals. I enjoyed the Harry Potter books when they first came out and the Harry Potter Lego brought me back to mainstream Lego. I have always enjoyed the CS Forrester Horatio Hornblower novels and when the A&E movies came out on Hornblower it inspired my Lego interests to focus on creating Hornblowers world in the Caribbean and I have been doing that now for a number of years. I collect all the new pirates line, most of the castle, Indiana Jones, some of the Creator sets, all the modular building sets and other specific sets that have pieces that I feel will be a good fit in my late 1700 early 1800 world. I buy a ton from Lego, Bricklink, EBay, and Craigslist. I am fairly active on Classic-Pirates.com...I think that about covers it. Permalink
Hey everyone, thanks for inviting me :)
I'll follow the lead of this topic and introduce myself, I'm Sebastiaan Arts, 26 years old from the Netherlands (though I've lived in the states for a while when I was 21-23, in Washington DC). On the internet I usually go by Aliencat.
I absolutely love LEGO Castle, and recently have been getting more into Pirates as well, though I must admit most of the MOCs I build are Town MOCs. Aside from those I also dabble into Space, Technic, Model Team, Bionicle, you name it really, and I love it. I guess I just like every theme LEGO throws our way.
In short I just love building. Anything.
For now I'll be contributing my Castle MOCs to this group as I haven't really built any Pirates MOCs yet, but as soon as I do I'll be sure to add them here.
Keep on brickin' Permalink
many thanks for the invite, I'm 50 years old and, I did'nt pick up with lego again until about my mid thirty's through my daughter. getting into castle through her love of harry potter. hogwarts has been my main challenge as a build and remains a wip. there are some excellent builders here whose work has been inspiring and I'm sure I'll pick up some great techniques.
