Continuing the convo from the previous thread: So, Phaze, mind delivering some critique on this?

http://mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=1451&topicid=7601

Seeing as I'm the one writing it, I hardly think my opinions are unbiased.

Especially since spending enough time writing something completely tangles your ability to step back and read it objectively.

Basically, what I need help with is merging object descriptions with the plot and vice-versa. Any suggestions?

If you managed to get into it, it wasn't truly secret.

"Secret" is something no-one except the people inside it know anything about.

"Secret" is Awe's hidden Precipice discussion group.

"Secret" was the UNE-COP Arms Limitation Pact during its conception phase.

"Secret" is not something uncovered simply by asking for an invite.

"Secret" is something completely undetectable until the time for unveiling comes.

Actually, it's the other way around. Our oldest ships are our best ships, but we don't know how they work. They just kind of... do. Our new ships vacuum rear end (I gotta give credit to my cousin there for that substitution).

Technically we'd need to retrofit our newest ships. The COP's technology level went down greatly after the great Warpspace Beacon Crash of the 28th Century or something.

Precisely. The COP had a 10,000 year rise, and a 2,000 year complete domination of nearly the entire galaxy. Then, in a single moment, all of it was brought down by faulty technology, and boom, it's back to 1/4th the galaxy with technology you don't understand. Like a nuclear apocolypse. You forget things, and you find things, but you don't know how they work, so you just hope they do. And because our old technology was very reliable (except those beacons), most of it still works.

Repair, perhaps, but operating is as easy as dragging it out to an empty portion of space and fidling around with it for a while. Just need to find some foolhearty people to do it, and the C.O.P. military is overflowing with them.

Ah, but you don't know anything about the lower-profile stuff.

You don't know what orders any given ship was programmed to refuse to obey, you don't know what innocuous looking sequences of key presses will activate an emergency self-destruct intended for use whilst being carefully watched by boarders, you don't know what the criteria the onboard security AI uses to determine threats, you don't know what the tolerances on parts and materials are...

Even using the wrong lubricants could shorten a system's lifespan by tens of thousands of years.

Post-EOS, I have had about five of my comments deleted.

Give my the scenario. I want to know 1: If they really were deleted (not just the account deletion, as that deletes all your comments), and why.

Change that to "Best."

Psh. If you're so intent on dieing (as this is about the 3rd time you've gone on about it), that makes me ask, why haven't you done it yet. Which leads me to the conclusion:

This is a passing angst state, and you will soon regain your normal composure, and realize that death is the worst choice.

Should we start posting stats on our MOCs?! What do we do?!

Hey, good idea... If we start including dice rolls, we'd have to film them though, because I don't trust that none of us would cheat.

No, I don't mean that kind of Brick-war. I mean the one we've been doing. You know, since the this group existed?

They were deleted before and after account deletion. I can't remember what I said, but I do remember many comments of mine being deleted.

I just stated that when you delete an account, all the comments the account has made are deleted with it. Before account deletion... I've only deleted several comments, I think they were of that one kid who pretended his cousin died. And we all know he deserved that.

Quick Question: Does deleting one comment because you thought it broke some rule warrant demodding?

Depends on the rule. I despise censorship, so censoring comments that we all have the guts to take is definately a no-no. If it's deleting a comment that's just plain v1le and off3ns1ve (these words are censored by MP), then you can delete it. I usually take screenshots of those for evidence, though. And now I must be off.

Shouldn't you be egging us on? Our modship is taking itself down and a member is arguing with a mod. It should be a dream come true for a U.N.E. member.

I wanted to do that on my own- ..er..... um... I never said anything.....

It's not as if I have a say in it, but I think that suicid3 should be a part of Steel Curtain... It has been mentioned a ton of times (and ended up badly) and for instance just lengthened this argument. And maybe people should quit arguing about mod actions so much.

But that's just my one cent, forget about it. We living in the sewers of Tarsis only have so many credits...

Internet r srs bzns.

And if people think Pearce deserves to be a moderator, they can promote him again. Phaze isn't the only moderator here, you know. It's in your hands, I'm sticking to the point that censorship=bad. Could Phaze have been more delicate? No, that's now how he rolls. Could some other moderator give Pearce the spot they think he deserves? Sure, but that opens a whole can of worms. I'll sit back and let this social experiment rot/boil.

So throwing a tantrum and talking about how you fail so badly it's not even epic and how you want to kill yourself will get you a modship these days?

I'll have to remember that.

I don't think my natural dignity will let me make use of it, but you never know.

Yeah, I was s|_|icidal once. Couldn't actually go all the way, fear of pain, y'know.

And when it comes to comment deletion:
I've delted a lot of comments.
Whole convos, actually, and they were all breaking the rules.

In other news, I've had a larger test in Math.
Five hours, with everything from geometry to simple addition, and I'm hoping for a 4 or 5.

What he did wasn't even against the rules of this group gorram it. Lawyered.

No, that's nothing like what a lawyer does. This is how it's done:

Plaintiff lawyer: Good afternoon you honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury. Today, the so-called Master of Epicness is on trial for deleting one of Phaze's comments, claiming it went against "MOCpages rules". This is a lie.

Pearce did three things on the afternoon of
December 4th. He deleted a comment, he was demodded, and he angsted. In complete disregard for the well-known anti-censorship policy of the COP, he deleted a comment in favor of the rules of MOCpages as a whole. Phaze, seeking rightful justice, de-modded Pearce. And because of that, Pearce spent the next hour or so angsting.

This is not acceptable, members of the jury. In clear violation of the anti-censorship policy, Pearce not only deleted a comment, he did it without asking! I ask they you rule in the favor of my client, Phaze, for it is the right thing to do. Good day.

Judge: Cool story, bro.

Defense lawyer: <Insert speech here>

Judge: Does the prosecution wish to call any witnesses?

Prosecution lawyer: Yes, your honor. The defense would like to call Phaze to the stand.

...it goes on like this for sometime. Pearce, don't mistake the speech as my actual opinion. The last thing I need is another angst spree.

I know it wasn't what a lawyer does, it was an obscure reference to my favorite show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in which on e character named Charlie thinks he is a lawyer. The reason for the obscurity is because most kids to late teens don't know about it.

I know about it, I just don't watch it.

I haz a happy.

Good news: I'm back for the next few months, as in December, January, and early Febuary. Fall trial is done with, I kicked rear end so hard, they more than half of their objections ended in them saying "withdrawn", and sitting down, giving up. I was over 9000.

So, I'm really tired after a week of hard work. I'll get Precipce 4 up tomorrow morning. Should be easy, there's an ice storm coming they say. I hope there is, haven't had an ice storm since I was in the 3rd grade, and BSG was but a vague old show from the 70s to me.
