Big get together with C.O.P. and U.N.E.
Join to comment
Well, I had a tiny discussion on Facebook with John, but he kept leaving.
Anyway, I am wondering if all of the active members of the U.N.E. and C.O.P. could have a huge get-together, followed by a massive Brikwar?
Post ideas here.

But some of us are in canada and some are in the states, and some are god-knows-where. That just seems a little tactically improbable.

I think we tried to organize something once, but we deemed it too hard to do. Some people aren't rich enough for a plane ticket. I suggest we all grow 10 years and get a COP/UNE table at Brickworld.

What Gus said. We have important members like Oucho and Warren in England, we have BK in Australia, Areetsa in like New Zealand, you guys in Canada, then you have all us Americans who can't afford a plane ticket unless we save for like three years...

It's a tactical impossibility. If we're still into this a few years down the line with our own jobs and stuff, then it's much more viable- we don't have the rest of the family to talk to and convince our homies are not 40 year old predators in New Jersey or something.

Ok, well, maybes in the future like Gus suggested...

This sounds like an interesting idea, as unlikely as it is, but interesting.

I agree with Gus, maybe in a long while, since a US visa is really hard to get here, not to mention the plane ticket, among other factors.

Yeah, that would be great. I was planning on going to brick world, or one of the others, at some point in several years. A COP/UNE table there would be awesome. I hope we continue this theme through our AFOL years...

Keep in mind the C.O.P. and the U.N.E. probably won't be around for like, 10 years. It will eventuly get old. In fact, it already is getting really boring.

Indeed. I know how to keep things going, for Sammy and I have big plans... They'll probably crash and burn, but we can always try.

I was planning on taking a trip to brickworld or some such con this year seeing as my passport comes right about now. AS for a Cop table I would probably get one but It would just be a table not really themed.

Agreed with Gus. Once I've gotten past university and am hopefully a succesful person in MOCing, I would love to have a get together. And as for this thing getting old, I don't think it will. People will come and go, but I'm quite sure that this theme will be something that isn't going to die for me anyways.
So, hopefully in under 15 years we'll all meet and we can see that AOS is actually a 70 year old granny!

This sounds unlikely, yeah. My only suggestion is for small groups of members to get together in their countries/areas, but then we're only slightly more together than usual. Thats my only compromise idea.

You know, getting all the senior members together in one place isn't that much of a problem. Just pick a nice big lego convention somewhere and rent a table.

No, the tactical impossibility would be getting us all there without starting either a fistfight, a wild party or a game of Warhammer 40k.

Or all three at once, and not necessarily in that order.

I can easily see how a rules-lawyering session could end up in a brawl, possibly followed by a "we must do this again next year" banquet...

Well, I think we all get along pretty good. (although a kiddy would probably try to get other kiddy to attack Phaze and you and Awe go berserk on them) But most of that I agree with other than not knowing how to play WH40K or any of them for that matter...

How about a place where one's less likely to get shot by the police; Australia, perhaps. Or maybe Christchurch, I haven't been there for a while.

Maybe from where you are, but from the Pacific coast of the US, a flight anywhere in Europe is way to much for a lot of people (at least people in the same socio-economic class as I am) to afford. Especially in this economy.
