Ok well that sounded like a bad question, what I meant was, I know we use anti matter to power ships and stuff, but do we use the stuff (or non-stuff?) in common weapons, eg. A shoulder lauched rocket launcher?

Power for our ships comes from fusion reactors, we use an anti-matter/fusion hybrid engine to go. Anti-matter is over 9000 expensive and energy-consuming to produce though, so we don't use it for standard weaponry.

Ok. Another question. How does terraforming work? I've only heard of it since I joined MOCpages. Is it like an atmosphere made of a mixture of gases that is somehow placed around a planet or something?

It's basically a process of converting a potentially habitable world into something people can live on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming

Further reading there.

In the COP, this process takes up to thousands of years, and is over 9000 expensives. It's generally used as a reward to good little sectors, or used out of necessity, like when a new food-producing world is expected to be needed in the future. There are a handful of "reserve" planets which have been fully terraformed, but are uninhabited at the moment, simply because other worlds still are being colonized. These planets are monitored and watched, of course.

This might sound overly stupid(as most of my comments are) but I was wondering about the social life of COP citizens. Do they have sports? Do they watch sitcoms or soaps like us? Do they have a form of zoo? Do they have third world areas? Do they have schools? Do they have trains? Do they have malls? Do they need glasses? Do they have a form of skateboard?

I know this sounds stupid but I've been wondering about COP daily life lately. I would like a mod or admin to answer these if possible. Thank you.

Well yes the COP do indeed have a rich and varied culture away from the battle front. And don't feel foolish for asking about something you don't know much about.

We partake in a variety of sports such as deathball. To answer all your questions would take up a lot of my valuable (suuuuure) time but without going into too much detail we have all you listed

That's a really good question. This is a socialist monarchy, so the people have free access to basic healthcare, paid for by themselves in taxes which go to the local overlord who then funds that money into the healthcare system (dig up my post on COP space feudalism). I'd imagine the lower and scant middle class live at least into their 90s, and at latest 130s. The upper classes can make it to 400 if they make healthy lifestyle choices.

Although the "less-evolved" and "inferior" people aren't too happy about the whole business with the cattle cars and the gas chambers. I'd imagine there'd be all sorts of unpleasant drawbacks to the mutations associated with the longer lifespan, too. Probably including a slower metabolism.

True, true. But that's with today's tech. We're talkin COP tech. Our medical gear is significantly ahead of today's standards, mostly because our generic techno aliens have agreed to supply medical things rather than weaponry.

Animals, eh? Well, Tarsis is colder than Earth, reptiles and insects wouldn't do too well beyond the equator. I'd imagine Tarsin animals are a lot like the Ice-age animals of Earth, due to the cold and stuff (see links below). Of course, most of them are probably extinct, since Tarsis is all but a city, land wise. However, there is also the possibility they were introduced to colonized worlds like Vogelia and Miko-irud.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woolly_rhino
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megatherium
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyptodon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macrauchenia

Assuming Tarsis has animals like these above, then big ones like the rhino and Megatherium would be like pack animals, while ones like Macrauchenia would be ones for riding.

This does not rule out usage of others, though. If you want more alien alien life, just make some stuff up, as long as it's logical. I mean, if you have a cold planet, chances are, you won't have giant lizards running around. If you have a warm planet, a furry animal would be an unwise evolutionary choice.

Not annoyingly, you have a point, I was coming across that way. What I meant was the Coalition Infantry has the Plasmx Rifle, and the Marines don't seem to have a standard weapon. And that the one I see most used with them is the clone blaster. So I was wondering if a standard Marine weapon should be established.

I would have thought infantry and marines would have the same weapon.

I have a few brickbuilt weapons ready, I can post them as candidates for official COP usage.

Could we change the Coalition Marine Standard weapon? In their current state they just look like clones with different helmets, I figure changing their weapon will be a step.

The guns they have are what I use, its a fairly simple but legit design to use.

I'll ask this again. Would any admins like a new COP logo? If you would, get together on chat or something, shoot ideas at each other, then when you all have a good one, email it to me at nano.shnineham@gmail.com and I'll set to work sketching it. Because MSPaint is my worst enemy, and I own no such Photoshop.

I like ours right now. Speaking of that, are there any objections to using the plain old COP emblem, rather than the Naval emblem we have as the symbol now?

Sounds like a good idea. If anyone has any ideas, I think we should post candidates and then the admins choose which. I mean brick-built, and then when they've been chosen, scale em down to minifig style. Agreed?

You can post anything you want whenever, but I seriously doubt it will be simple yet legit enough to replace our current weapons as a standard, so don't get your hopes up.

I like the current symbols. We keep them.

I prefered the old pic better, the one that was like a building of some sort, it made the COP look like an ancient yet dominant civilization.

Which it is.

Except that building was bad looking, in all honesty. One day Ian will make something worthy...

But anyways: Who here besides me would rather see the hammer and wreath rather than hammer, wreath, and ship?

I had thought that the ship was a thumbs-up fist when I first joined...

Anyways, hammer and wreath looks good to me.

Me, I prefer it without the ship.

I'm going to the library soon to post a couple of things including:
A new MOC
My finished map of Aurora
something special which I will not reveal at this time, but you will find out soon enough...

Change the wreath up a bit. It's no good if it looks like something off of Earth

Ian and I discussed it, but we couldn't settle on something good. I'll work with a few designs later on. Personally, I want something a little more angular and alien, but not corny.

If we are gonna change the logo make sure you don't make it too empty. The current is fairly legit I feel but I fear that without the ship it may look empty.

Let's give the newish one a test run for the day. We'll see how it goes. If we don't like it, we can change it back.

I have to say I don't greatly look at the symbol so didn't notice until you said it was different. A bit plain though as I feared.

It is a bit plain. If the hammer was shorter it might look better.

I like the new logo, though the hamer's head is a bit too tall.

I tried it out on paint, it didn't look as good.

I think we're all so used to the ship that the symbol by itself looked odd. It certainly was that way for me when I first saw this one.
