23rd Century Ship thread

Figured the C.O.P could do with a thread just for talking about ships.
Here you can talk about, debate on, promote, argue about, and compare Ships of the Coalition and Alliance.

How about a list of notable COP ships to start off with? Maybe Matt can make one for UNE ships.

1. Hammer of Thyr. The most popular ship in the COP, and I think it's kind of become almost symbolic, representing the Coalitions navy, not just for Thyrenda.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/145254

2. The Fortress of Silence. That's where the idea of a cathedral shaped ship came from. This ship is the Flag ship for the entire Coalition, though the HoT seems to have taken it's place, seeing as it's the most popular ship.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/109763

3. The Pride of Isus. The newest addition to our navy. I figured it deserves a place as a notable ship, seeing as (apart from looking awesome) it is the longest ship in the C.O.P.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/247000

4. The Nazkhom. Coalitions first, and still only civilian ship. Nuff said.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/206969

5. The Star of Aor. I don't know if one of my own ships deserves a place here, but I've seen several people talking about it and using the SoA as examples to compare and stuff like that. It would be at least in the C.O.P's top 5 biggest and most powerful ships. I've got better ships on the way, so may have to update this comment in a week or two.

Not too many ships to list...

1. "Dawn's Light" Battleship
The Dawn's Light is one of the more well known ships of the Savior Class of battleships. The Savior Class were the first to carry Grav-Missiles. The "Dawn's Light" is almost 45 studs long.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/103072

2. AA-1 Medical Ship
It doesn't really fit the UNE theme, but noteworthy nonetheless.
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/182737

3. "Zi'park" Frigate
The "Zi'park" is one of the very, very few ships that actually fit the UNE theme to the "t."
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/246212

4. "Niagara" Carrier
More to come. >:D

The COP is going through a ship-design change. From blocky, chunky, tall, and generally un-aerodynamic looking, to much flatter, sleeker, and longer, while retaining the signature blocky, angular, smooth style of any good C.O.P ship.

I'd like to request a nesseccary criteria for C.O.P Warships and Destroyers: has to have a square shaped hole in the front of the ship- this is just a gigantic MAPD nozzel, the rest of the gun is built deeper into the ship.

Also I'd like to request that all windows or lights on standard coalition ships be light trans blue or clear (preferably light-trans-blue).

I mean ships from now on, I'm trying to start a new generation of COP ships that have light trans blue windows and lights, so the old ones can still have trans red, in fact people could still make ships now and say they're older, but I was hoping that most ships that were built after 2282 have light trans blue.

Maybe?

Also, I know Coalition ships are supposed to be all light bley, but I think it would be good if people had the choice of adding a highlight color and the ship still being canon. Here are a few suggestions you can approve or deny:

Color scheme 1: mostly light bley with dark navy blue as highlights and trans clear for windows.

Color scheme 2: mostly light bley, with black used for stripes/highlights, with trans red for windows and light trans blue for windows.

As cool as the navy blue would be, I think black trims would be better, seeing as how the symbol for the COP is black. Bear in mind, however, that that is just my opinion of something that hasn't been decided on.

What? The COP is an undead empire of a former power that had influence over the entire galaxy, and then some!
Therefore, it deserves to be menacingly shaped, to refer to its past glory, but sucked of color, to refer to its near-emptiness.

Mhm. I can let this window thing slide. However, we need a canonical excuse to pass off this new batch of ships. Did we find some old plans? Or did we acquire the raw materials needed?

And for highlight colors... I'm very hesitant about that. We've always been without highlight colors, it's what kind of sets us out.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is an empire that's only a shadow of it's former glory (except Tarsis), therefore, there shouldn't be too much color.

You mean, from Ian/Awe-looking to Andrew-looking? If yes, than I support this. Honestly, I always saw the original design as dead and unattractive, but I am forced to admit that this is crucial to a space ship.

As cool as Andrew's ship is, it isn't really what I had in mind. This new batch of ships is supposed to be thousands of years of inactive ship yards that have barely built any ships since the great crusades, re-awakening to build new lethal warships and destroyers in a rather delayed response to the war against the UNE. Of course, we have built more warships since we encountered the UNE, but not at this scale. We're talking about dozens of new (Lego) ship designs appearing.

Is that a definite no? Remember that black, like grey, is also devoid of color, and sometimes I think a flash of black or other dark color on some all-grey COP ships would look really nice, and still menacing and lacking in color.

Perhaps. Black and light bley don't really go together. However, if we could some how make a coherent scheme of black, white, grey, and dark grey... It'd be pretty cool, I think.

I was thinking dark bley for greebley bits as we've always done, and people can maw their windows either trans red or trans light blue, and they have the option of adding an extra highlight color to their ship which could be either white or black? What do you think?

No carbon fibre, just very strong metal that's found in only certain places in the galaxy. I'd suspect it's left over from the Old Machine projects, they had their original shipyards in the same area. So basically, a great deal of naval power of both the COP and barbarians there is built from Azer-Irudzishi scrap metal. I wonder how tough their non-scrap metal was...
