What Noir movies have you seen? Lets compare notes a bit. I've seen The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Murder My Sweet (based on the book Farewell My Lovely) and also Casablanca, which is not in the Hard-boiled genera but has many of the same Noir elements.

The list is probably too long to post here! I teach courses on literature and film, and I used to do a whole unit on film noir with my freshmen. Here's a short list of classic favorites: Out of the Past, Gun Crazy, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, Double Indemnity, Laura, Mildred Pierce, In a Lonely Place, and Sunset Blvd. For neo-noir I'd say Dark City, Brick, and, of course, Blade Runner.

If you want to see a hysterical Noir parody, watch 'My Favorite Brunette' in which Bob Hope spoofs Phillip Marlowe. He even gets locked in a sanitarium, taken from Farewell My Lovely (also known as Murder My Sweet)
