I've just finished reading 'The Blue Hammer' by Ross Macdonald. I've also read 'The Drowning Pool' and 'The Ivory Grin' by the same author. Also, I have read classic 'The Maltese Falcon' by Dasheill Hammett, and I have plans to read some of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe.

If you like your noir with a supernatural twist, try Charlie Huston's Joe Pitt series. Steve Hockensmith's Holmes on the Range series is a fun Western mystery with a Holmesian bent, and The Black Dove from that series leans heavily on The Maltese Falcon.

I read Chandler's "Farewell my Lovely" Good book. A lot like the movie version, but different enough to enjoy.
