Who would be a good moderator?
 Group admin
As you all know there will be a mod nomination very soon (May 28th) and since there are so many active members I decided to create this topic. What do you think of the other members/candidats? Who of them would be a great mod in your opinion?

Well, I know several members that would be good mods even though they're not active.

Ian Spacek
Ru Corder
Christopher Baldacci

I know they're not very active but they have good heads on their shoulders and wont do anything rash.

Hmmm... I will think about this. Ian will probably be a candidat, because he knows how to lead a group and Chris also might be one, but Ru is to inactive.

I honestly don't agree to this topic. Maybe you should just hold a vote?

This can bring nothing good, just a lot of flaming.

It's not the time for holding a vote, because nobody will get mod, just because of his fame or popularity. This means: Vote for the people who would be good mods in your real opinion and don't choose them just because they said: 'Please vote for me! I will comment on your MOCs!' or something like that.... XD

Right, we need mods with level heads that are mature and know what they're doing.

I know it seems like I'm copying Christopher Baldacci but I'm really not.
I'm trying to put up a new one so it doesn't look like I am but its not working.

I agree Ian Spacek is a good candidate. He knows how to handle a contest and he always has positive feedback for people. Also, hes consistently active.

I agree! He is not as active as other members, but he has the right skills!

I think we all want Ian to be a mod. He deserves it.
Um, on a side note. Michael, how come your the only admin/mod that is EVER on here? It seems that all the other admins/mods are never on.
Whats up with that?

Agreed. Many of them are not very often on MOCpages and therefor I'll make more members moderators, who have enough time to be active. I can't do everything by myself and there must be at least one mod, who keeps the group active, when I don't have enough time.

As the group owner and founder you don't need to be very active, because you did very much for this group and contributed to everything what it is now: The biggest LOTR group and one of the biggest groups on MOCpages!! Just feel free to write in this group wnenever you want or have enough time.

Wow guys, thanks for thinking of me again. Sorry for being so inactive in the group, I'm slightly preoccupied with my own LOTR contests, but I'd try my best. And if you decide to chose someone who could be more active, that's totally fine I have no ill feelings whatsoever. As for Christopher (I know him in real life) and I'm sure we'd have fun working together. And even if you don't chose me, I think he would be a good candidate. The only reason you might not know as much about him is that he's newer to the pages. But he's a great guy and knows more about LOTR then I do. And Ru Corder is pretty active too actually. He posts stuff more often then I do. These are just my thoughts on the whole subject, seeing as I'm one of the possible candidates they may not count for much, but thought I'd add them anyway.
Thanks,
Ian

Michael, how are you going to judge mod candidates? By merits? By maturity? How?

be MOCZ!1 MEH awesome lOtr Mokz so epiK They weally GGOUD Me sPeLLing ROCKS 2.

Just kidding yeah Aidan that is a good question I would hope maturity but how do you find out maturity on MOCpages other than bad spelling.

Well there are a few things like....

Mature: Great job! You are a very experienced builder!
Immature: that is SOOOOO COOOOOL!!!!! almost as good as mine!!

Sometimes humility can show how mature a person is.
Also, check top candidates home pages and see what they say. If they're all like "I ROCK" or stuff like that then it shows that they're not as mature as other people.

You get it now?

Like watch this. i'm SOOOOO MATURE!!!! you NEEEEED to see my page cause i have some great lotr mocs on thear.

That is my page all over. :D

I AM IN NO WAY QUOTING ANYONE HERE. I AM MERELY STATING THE FACTS OF MATURITY AND IMMATURITY.

Capiche?

The three people with the most merits will be mod candidats and also Ian Spacek, because many people would lke to see him as a mod. but if a person with many merits isn't qualified and writes comments like " ur @ g0d lorTER B&ldr", is very arrogant or writes rude comments, he won't be a candidat. Thanks for the ideas!!! I'll check out the top candidats homepages. (PS: You are one of them)

I think Chris, Caleb and Ryan would be great mods too, but as David said before: The topic is 2 years old and from a time where we didn't have merits/demerits.

Admins, this is just a suggestion, but I think it might be a good idea to lock this topic, as conversations like this are quite possible to get out of hand. Now that we have merits, we know who's most active, although that doesn't say who's most mature, but I just have a feeling that this topic could get a little risky, as people could be saying things like "i want 2 be a mod, cuz hes not a good one" or something like that. I'm not imitating anyone here, just saying what could possibly happen.

Anyway, like I said, just a suggestion :)
