Those look to be pretty promising.
At least they changed up the look of the Lion and Dragon Knights a bit, not that we don't already have enough.

I agree. It feels like a few years ago they didn't have any interesting LEGO sets and know they have thousands and you can't decide which ones to buy.

Yeah, I noticed that to.
Anyway here are my thoughts on the new Lotr sets:
Wizard battle: I find this to be a great little set for the price even though not completely necesary with an Orthanc exclusive coming, but Saruman looks fantastic and it seems Gandalf have a new expression too.
Council of Elrond: To me this is a must have with Elrond (with multi coloured cape), Arwen, new expressions for Frodo, orange leaves, great model and a decent price too.
Black Gate: Seems like a good set,the minifigures are simply marvelous, Gandalf is just like Saruman fantastic, Aragorn is great, the orcs arent very special but i gues its good to add a few more to my army, but star of this set to me is Mouth of Sauron with that gorgueos helmet.
The eagles claws doesent bother me that much really and it would have been welcole addition to the Warg attack set too.
The gate itself looks pretty nice and i find it funny that they have given it doorknobsXD
Corsair ship: The pirate fans will probably be happy about this one.
I am quite open for sets of less memorable scenes, its just that i would rather have a Eowyn vs Witch king set first.
Anyway the ship looks very good and those shields will probably come in handy for future MOCs .
The figures look great and PJ corsair is a welcome addition.
Overall this seems like a good wave of sets and i willmost likely be geting
All of the since im trying too get every Lotr set.

I agree in generally, but Council of Elrond set could be better, I mean they could have gave Gimli another clothes and hair instead of helmet. They also should have added more minifigures, like old Gloin or one of the elves, i.e. Glorfindel or Erestor.

Yeah, the shields are awesome! Not to mention the chains, sails, and minifigures :).

I agree with you about the minifigures that come with the Black Gate. Finally, an Aragorn that doesn't have the traditional outfit! The blue is quite awesome looking! The helmet for the Mouth is also amazing!

Yes, Gloin would be the better addition to the MOC. They already have the hairpiece in a different color and it would be more interesting to have an other LOTR dwarf than only Gimli.

(Im sorry for the lenghty post)
No reason to be sorry! =D Great opinions!

I think they are cool, hopefully the commander dudes hat with shorter hair molded to it (not the evil ugly guys hat, the calvary commander dude) will be in more sets with different colored hats. Also I noticed that the calvary builder set, (or one of 'em) has a hat with a larger bill that the average hat, so it's like a ten gallon hat, without the giant top. :P

I totally agree. I used to like LEGO much better, when the designs were so simple, but still detailful. The new designs very often ruin the minifigs, because there are too many details or they look odd.

Well, Anakins new face isn't THAT bad, I think Hadens (the actor) cheekbones really stand out, and after watching some starwars the fig really doesn't exaggerate much of anything. Though I wish the scar was more prominent like the old fig. :( (although the year of the RoTS sets was a truly horrible year for minifig faces....)

I really want them all but if I had to pick one I'd pick the ship. It has a lot of great minifigs (me being a customizer, that is a very important detail for me) and some nice parts that would be good for LotR and Pirate themed MOCs (of which I do both).

The Council of Elrond is another good one. It has those nice arches for Elf-Themed buildings, great new figs and some strange orange-ish foliage pieces. Plus lots of white parts as well.

The Wizard Battle is a good set mostly for the Figs but also there are those 1x2 'log' like bricks in black. Then the 1x1 black cones. O course the Palantir is a must have. And there are those yellow crystal ball pieces. Black slopes (cheese and otherwise) and some dark grey plate pieces but mostly I'd want this one for the figs.

The Black Gate has (again) beautiful figs, especially Gandalf and the mouth. The great Eagle is definitely a great addition but though he looks good, I think the claws should be able to hold a minifig because that's a very big part of what the Eagles do in the movies and books. The parts are good too. Those black spiky things are good. Again, lots of black slopes (cheese and otherwise) and black tile pieces. Unfortunately, neither the Ship nor the Black Gate come with Anduril! Just one of the normal swords which is saddening. Too bad they didn't make a new piece for it.

Well my reasons for buying the Pirate ship set just turned into a full scale review on all four sets! Oh well.

Maybe there will even be one or two more of them, since that is the thing LEGO usually does with small bricks that are in a high quantity in a set.

I hope that the big set like that has a lot of extra parts. The Goblin Town set and the Black Pearl had so many extra parts I thought I had missed a step!

Yes, those new arch pieces are stellar. Its always nice to have new pieces. ;) I'm hoping they'll come in Light Grey in the near future as well. They would be perfect for Castle related builds. With those new leaf pieces TLG is giving Alt Bricks a run for their money.

I know right?! I was bummed out as well :(

We may get it in 2014....it seems they release new pieces each year. They added new gun molds for the Lone Ranger, and also with Ninjago they made a mold for the Fire Sword, and later the elemental swords in that cool shape whatever thingy.

With that in mind, I'm hoping for the iconic weapons for LOTR. I'm guessing that eventually, they will come out with the Narnia theme! From watching the three movies of that, I can already pick out more than 15 sets!

Maybe. If LotR goes strong like Star Wars, we will have remakes of old sets most likely in a few years so they may include it then. But for now we can just use this part from Brickforge:http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=384

It is funny considering the 15 dollar packs usually come with two to three figs, while the ten (Twelve now, where are the good old days?) dollar packs come with four. :P Yeah, brown wargs would be awesome, especially to make a Red Riding hood Once Upon a Time themed moc. :)

Funny, it seems to me that it's got a picture of all five istari, hopefully Tolkien Estates won't see that :O!
But i agree the tower looks amazing. It looks huge besides the designers. (Designer video: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7aOdjObziYg&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Ffeature%3Dplayer_embedded%26v%3D7aOdjObziYg) The Ent looks pretty good too and im glad it's not treebeard, it opens the posibilities for a set with him. Im actually quite happy they made an interior for it.
Grima looks good and im glad we got another whitehand Uruk.

Ask your parents what you can do aroun the house for some extra cash! It might not pay as much as a job, but it's less stressful.

Things you might be able to do:
Now the lawn
Weed whack
Weed garden/lawn
Fix up the bushes or trees on your front lawn
Edge the sidewalk
Paint things like a fence, parts of a garage
Take out stumps (if you have any)
Vacuume, dust, mop, clean different rooms I the house (if it's not already for chores)
Wash the dishes every night after dinner
Etc

Same with me! I help my grandmother in the garden very often too. It's a really good idea and I very often get money as a reward! :)

Nice! Once she hired me and my brother to clear out bushes and what not behind my grandfather's cabinet shop. I took that money and what I got from selling my drumset and bought the Black Pearl!

ARRRRRGH!! In Honduras, the nearest store that sells LEGO stuff is about 4 hours away from my house, and they charge double the normal price! And they don't have any LotR or Hobbit sets! It can get very annoying. So I won't be getting any new sets until august at the earliest. Maybe not until November :(

Or just order them in the internet if possible. Amazon is very fast, even when it comes from another country. :)

That's a good idea. The only problem would be the shipping. I don't know how much that would cost to get it shipped here. I might look into it! The other option would be for me to order it, have it shipped to someone in the US that is coming for a visit. I don't know when someone will be visiting after the new stuff comes out.

AWESOME! It remembers me of my old self-made Ewok village from a few years ago. (I never posted it on MOCpages though) At that time I wished so hardly that LEGO would make something like that, but they always realize my dreams too late. :(

Yeah! They are simple, but also detailed in a very special way!

Another thing I noticed is that the designs of the main castles (the ones for 99.99) of the latest themes have a structure that was repeated quite often. I would really love them to make a totally different main castle design, not always only that square look.

I agree. I think the reason why they added the shoulder-head thing is that they wanted to make him appear bigger and stronger than normal minifigs and that he doesn't look odd with the long legs.

Huh, long legs? They look normal to me, also that make him to big for his Warg. Also it's been confirmed that Azog will be in a set but slightly different. I wonder if that means they'll make him white.

Oh, I didn't know that. Still I want that Elf minifig. That hat will look good on my Link Minifig.

Huh, long legs? They look normal to me, also that make him to big for his Warg. Also it's been confirmed that Azog will be in a set but slightly different. I wonder if that means they'll make him white.

I'm totally sure that it's true, look at the photo again. It's hard to see, but I promise he will have longer legs than normal mnifigs.

Yes, I think it means that he will be white. The version you showed us seems to be more tan. Thanks again. :)

More pictures of the Laketown set: http://www.fbtb.net/2013/07/21/sdcc-79103-lake-town-chase-preview/
I think they nailed all the figures, especially the master Also we get those awesome new arches in brown, plus those nice shields. However the interior of the buildings seems somewhat bland and boring and im not completely happy with the pricetag (If it is correct.) Overall though a nice set.
Hmm... They seem to have a conflict with the Master of Esgaroth. I'm curious what this scene will be in the movie, since it isn't in the book.

Also it's cool to see that they still use old pieces: Bard has got Qui-gon's hairpiece in black!

I think he should be light grey. He would look odd in white. Wonder what set he'll be in...

I think he looks good in White: http://oi41.tinypic.com/nosnep.jpg (Credit to Deskp on Eurobricks) In the Trailer it looks like he is attacking the Mirkwood palace, so I think he'll be there.

At the first view it appears they have the same size, but although they mixed both photos Legolas is shown from the front side view, while Azog's photo is more from above and from the side, so it's really hard to say if they have the same size. Let's wait for him in the sets... Though, if I were the LEGO group I would give him bigger legs.

The black Qui-Gon hairpiece is indeed very useful. A blonde QG hairpiece would be nice for Legolas.

Or Gandalf and Thrain... I think Radagast is very important for the Dol Guldur Ambush though, because he was in the majority of the Mirkwood scenes we saw yet. So I think it is very likely that he's in the set.

Thats, uh, somewhat underwhelming. Hardly any sets with dwarves. No Smaug, no Beorn, no Elven palace. Mirkwood army sounds like an army builder though which is nice. I can't really see them doing two sets about Dol Guldur though, I mean Helm's Deep had one but that was a major location and the climax of the second movie. I'm kind of hoping this list isn't true:-/

Oh LEGO, LEGO, LEGO...STOP IT!! I honestly have a hard time believing that more fans want Simpsons than some other themes. They seriously need to stop investing in new themes, and invest more into the current themes.

Better sets in the current themes would mean more sets would be sold as they would cater to the wishes of multiple fans.

I'm not allowed to watch the show either and I'm positive that my parents would never let me buy the sets...ah well...it seems we have to deal with it for now.

And Michael, totally agree with you on Chima...

I agree Justin. I'm not a huge fan of the show, but I do like it (Season 1-10 that is) and watch it when there is nothing more interesting on. I wouldn't have expected to see TLG make sets of it though. The Simpsons was at the peak of it's poularity maybe ten years ago! I would probably be more comfortable with this theme if there was a Monorail set.I most likely won't be buying any with the other intersting themes next year, I will wait for pictures before passing a final judgement though.

I don't like the idea of LEGO making too many remakes, so that collecting the old minifigs doesn't make any sense anymore. I really love the Kashyyyk Trooper battlepack and the new mini series though!

I'd ruther be able to buy new, (and better) figs, than have to spend a tone of money on old ones, but that's my two cents. :/

Well, it does give the newer generation a chance to get popular characters in LEGO versions without having to spend tons of money on the old ones. If you do collect, those old ones will just go up and up! :D

News has been released that in 2014 TLG is taking on the Simpsons for their newest theme: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=7270

Personally, I'm disappointed to see TLG taking on such a theme. I'm not really seeing a young child walking into the LEGO aisle and wanting to buy a Simpsons set. Oh well, we'll see how things go.
I've never been allowed to see it, which says one thing, and all the things my parents have said about it in the past don't really make it seem family friendly. I just hope Lego stays clean. Y'know?
Yeah, same here.

But the fun is never missing, even if you have only a very small amount of bricks.

I just found hi-res photos of a bunch of Lego Movie sets. I'm not going to include the first one announced, because they've been out for over a month now.

Here's a set called Cloud Cuckoo Palace (source Yahoo Movies/Brickpedia): http://images.wikia.com/lego/images/d/d4/70803HR.jpg

And another- Lord Business' Evil Lair (source Hollywoodreporter.com /Brickpedia : http://images.wikia.com/lego/images/f/fd/10617656646_b60ba16536_b.jpg

And here's the Series 12 CMs for the Lego Movie (source TBB): http://www.flickr.com/photos/brothers-brick/10682956554/

There's some pretty nice design and minifigures in all three, much better than some recent themes *Chima*.

I find it simultaneously ironic and wonderful that Lego is making official sets that mirror what every kid (and moccer) does with their products- rebuild and combine them to make something better. If not for the Lego Movie, would we ever have gotten a mecha with a shark and two cannons for arms? XD

The LEGO Movie

Looks like a big movie coming out for next year's Summer, eh? I'm glad it's not even attempting to take a dramatic tone to it... LEGO is entertaining so, the movie should as well? Looks like it's gonna be a lot of jokes in a row threading through a simple plot with interesting characters. Plus, finally a whole-LEGO realm, eh? Interesting.... what are you guys thinking about it?

I mean, didn't we just see that swamp rider mobile thingy in 2012 or something? It seems awfully familiar... and also, Michael: no, not every landscape. That's just another reason I won't bee getting the Beorn set. He's one of my favorites in the book but the movie just rined him.

Good to learn about the Hobbit game! I will definitely be preordering that game. I wonder if it will come with an exclusive minifig or not...and who would it be?

Hm, maybe an exclusive Bilbo or Azog minifig?

And I don't like the movie-Beorn too. They ruined him as well as they did with Thorin, Kili and the Great Goblin...

Suddenly, the Smaug set doesn't look so bad. Seriously LEGO, what the heck? The smallest set is obviously the best, because of the minifigs. But why oh why are you rehashing Bard, Tauriel, Legolas, and Azog? At least Tauriel got a new torso! The laketown set is okay I guess, not complete garbage. The Battle set is missing something, so I'll hold my judgement. At least Thorin looks pretty cool...and I think were getting Dain...

Well. To me, the most appealing set looks like the Witch-King battle. Seems like the best figs for the price. The Smaug set is cool but it's not a $100 set. More like an $80 set :/

Not really impressed with the sets, but the mini-figs are cool! I will definitely be getting the Dol-guldur one. Three unique mini-figs in a small set is rare! :)

What I noticed was:

1) Galadriel has the phial in Dol-guldur. I had a feeling PJ and co. were going to do this...

2) Bard appears to be shooting the Black Arrow and the Orcs have new hairdos in the Laketown set.

3) The eagles look like they will join the battle. I couldn't see PJ taking them out with his love of battles and all. Dain, from what I could see, looks meh. I'm not to fond of how he looks based on the description from Billy. Thorin looks awesome though!

4) Smaug is great, as are the new torsos. I find that this set looks rather crammed though.

Only thing is that the spring loaded missal isn't an arrow, the end is a ball rather than a point. I'll probably try to file down the ball into a point if I can.

My only comments on the Smaug set are as follows:

It is certainly overpriced. A set should cost about 10 cents per piece. That means a $20 set should have 200 pieces in it. So already this one is on the high end.

Also Smaug is far too small. Bilbo is supposed to be smaller than his head. That said, Lego never makes anything to scale so this is no surprise.

And I must say, the BOT5A set isn't THAT bad. Defiantly not one of the best of the theme, but it has some nice techniques and looks decent once completed. Of course, Thorin, Dain, and Bard are the real reason I bought the set. :)

(I very often only bought sets because of the minifigs, haha. :D)

Sounds great! Maybe I should check out the shops around here soon!

Out Already?? That's epic!! I'll be getting a witch king battle for sure, that tan cape is awesome! I think I might get the laketown one, but there isn't too much of a draw to it for me. (I mainly want it to pair up with the first lake-town set. :D )

Well, I decided I'll just buy my little brother something else for his b-day, cause I built the witch king battle set today. :) And honestly, I don't regret it! The build is meh, but the figs are awesome! Especially, well, actually all of them!

I saw! I'm asking for one for my Birthday, and I might buy a few, and then sell them in ten years! You never know!
