Really! I mean, I've made a cool tank/apc out of the Spartan tank, and it's sweet! Why do you hate MegaBloks? What's good about MegaBloks? Do you want to see a post-apoc Lego theme?

Yeah. The classic space theme sounds freaking sweet, but they keep innovating, making the old sets look better. Why? Have you seen some of their latest torsos, how cartoony they are?

LEGO still produces them for accessories, but they don`t have the same helmets. I think it would be cool if they released sets about what happened after Classic Space. Ya, the torsos are pretty 6-year old stuff. But some are good.

I'd love to see it come back as well, all the spacey stuff was cool. I have made a R.E.S.Q Boat (R.E.S.Q was an old theme as well.)
On a personal note, Lego could (or should) re-mix some of the old themes into the themes they belong in, such as Classic space being mixed in with Star Wars (It wouldn't fit in with it but hey, it is space after all.) They should mix R.E.S.Q in with the City sets, along with the emergency vehicles.

Lego's said to improve around this time. It's sad to see them stop innovating; the old themes really took out children and stopped them from playing with anything really popular, now, you're considered a typical nerd if you get excited about the newest lego set.
It's sad to say that, but it's essentially true. There's this kid that I know who gets made fun of for having a true obbsession with Lego. I think he really deserves it, however, because he isn't obsessed with real Legos, just Clone Wars legos. I mean, the old star wars sets were better than the new ones tenfold.
I've got nothing against MegaBloks really, but the insane thing is that the people of America don't allow those Military lego sets for some copyrighted issue. They teach us to be loyal to our country; however, they don't teach us to be loyal to imagination.
I know I'm sounding highly like I'm a man of treason; I'm not, let's get that straight. Legos are basically meant for enjoyment and playabiltity, but the newest toys are not.
Ever heard of HotWheels or Matchbox? They've got nothing to stand against the most classic toy ever: Lego. I mean, five year olds in this time of economical dispute really take mind over matter and go with Legos. Who wants to spend a whole dollar on an itty-bitty peice of elemental, radioactively-painted scrap metal?
I love to dislike and confront anything really popular, but the fact is, that I love video games because everyone else likes them, and I like Legos, a popular toy. Because I have a true dispute with anything popular, I hate the Clone Wars. I mean, the show's okay, but the true thing is that Clone Wars is overrated. No offense, loyal fans, but Clone Wars legos actually suck eggs.
Okay, I've truly killed your ear (if you had one during after the second paragraph) so I'll stop. One last few words: Something horrible's happened to the political world of Lego. America really killed the amount of Lego sets out there by giving the lego company their limitations.

I would really prefer the older style that you could see in sets pre-2002/3. The curved parts, while a bit more realistic, aren't as easy to use and (I think) that they don't look as good.

Also, to answer the question: MegaBloks often takes up space in stores where LEGO can be, it is often confused with LEGO and gifted when to people who want LEGO. Combined with it's lower quality, the fact that it actually has cool themes which people want LEGO to have, and that it's a clone brand make it very unpopular.

I think the hate aspect comes purely from branding. "It has to be Lego, darn it!"

Having bought several unsorted lots from a certain auction site, I've come across Mega Bloks pieces that would come in really useful for building things, such as a double-sided plate. But I heard from one place that people who use them in their creations would *never* be featured.

I wouldn't go out and buy a Mega Bloks set any time soon, but the problem is I wouldn't really go out and buy a Lego set either. I have done back in the day when it had the classic style, but these days the models and minifig designs are far more mainstream. So in my book, there's not much between them.

I don't like megablocks (mega-knock-offs) for an infinite number of reasons; so posting megablocks on mocpages makes me want to vomit.

So why doesn't anyone on here not like megablocks? Because at one time TLC didn't appreciate megablocks coping their design of the brick, and sued (which unfortunately failed)

So hopefully you see my point.

I hate mega blocks for 2 reasons.

1. It is a VERY crapy knock off of Lego.

2. It gets mixed up with lego and gets given as a gift to some one who wants lego!
I always had used MB and Lego together before I got serious about my MOCs. And now that I'm purest, I have all these mega blocks to sort out and get rid of! Thats over 300 bucks worth off mega blocks to replace with Lego! And 300 bucks worth of MBs, is like 700 some-odd dollars in lego!

I dont buy Mega Blocks for a reason of bad experiences. I had a big millitary jet for Christmas one year and had many missing pieces, I had to use some LEGO bricks, and some MB bricks were so loose and some were to tight. Some of MB parts just crack and break after a few years in the open.
Also I find the colors to be dull and just so cheap, which im finding LEGO is starting to have. Might be because some parts are made in China, which I strongly dislike from such a HQ company.

The reason megablocks is garbage is because they copied lego! I do agree with those saying lego is going downhill though. I would guess that is because they just make sets based off of movies instead of creating their own ideas! Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Prince of Persia, and now Pirates of the Caribbean! I will admit that I buy the Star Wars sets, but all of the others seem like garbage to me. It seems like Lego is no longer about fun, just money. Half of the sets are overpriced, (just see the 2009 echo base set if you don't know what I mean. $25 was way too much) and a good more look dumb. What is happening to the world of lego!!!

It's not that I absolutely hate them, it's just that they are very frustrating! I have only six, leftover from a project in art, then handed onto me, but there are very, very difficult for them to stay together! They just fall apart when you try to move them. Megablox also are copying Lego, and even though the patent expired, giving them right to use the concept, it doesn't seem right to me. They aren't (in my opinion) as good as Legos. Now, I can see if you don't want to spend all the money on Legos, if you really like the Halo line, or it doesn't bother you as much as it bothers me. Honestly I don't care if you use them, they are practically the same as Lego.

Personally, I think that MegaBloks are disliked because the bricks are cheap plastic, they're not great at fitting together and the bags of bricks are divided so that it takes Longer to build a set, and the instructions are not nice and clear like Lego's are. The colours are not very co-ordinated either, and it seems that unlike Lego MegaBloks has problems keeping the same shade of colour, say, red bricks connected.

From what i've heard, TLG's tolerences for fitting thier stud and tube connections are extremely stringent, wheras other brick companies, including Megablocks, are less so. Hence, the feel when you snap MB pieces together just doesn't feel right, and as others have said, it's not very sturdy either. So my guess is that the range of what you can build with Lego is greater than you could with MB, simply because you can push the Lego connections to do more extreme things.

I would value 20 year old Lego more than i would the same quantity of brand new MB, the elements are just of far superior quality.

Hi, I entered the group just now, and this subject is quite interesting. I once bought Megablocks : the Ford GT. A magnificent looking model, not hard because every body panel was in a single piece. All other 1500 parts (I don't know but it was many!) hadn't any reason, because just a few are visible. I hoped the body was compatible with Lego to add some (technic)functions, but that was a wrong guess. I also looked at the quality of the parts and that wasn't that bad. They are in size really compatible. But, even black has a color difference with Lego, so I wouldn't dare to mix them. I do like my Megablocks GT it is magnificent (from a distance :-) ). Also, Megablocks had as first a model line of 'Cars' (Duplo size), and those weren't that bad either. I once heared both company's may have the same owner(s) ? Anybody knows something about that? Is it true?

I personally hate megabloks because they're a rip off of Lego (notice I put Lego in caps, and didn't waist my shift key on megabloks :P). If you look at their Wikipedia pages, you'll see megabloks came out only about...18 or 19 years AFTER Lego bricks were made! Lego even sued megabloks once! It's all on the Wikipedia pages.

I don't really use megablocks(I don't know whether or not it should be capatilised) primarily because they don't stay together as well, but they do have a few usefull parts. For example in my Jango Fett's Helmet (www.mocpages.com/moc.php/319573) I just remembered that I used a number of white megablock bricks to finish it, and it still looks just fine(I did primarily use Legos to build it however).

I think megabloks are just a big ole imitation. so are tyco, and hello, and k'nex, and the list goes on and on. It's called greed. megabloks saw how much money Lego made, and decided to make money too, using cheap quality plastic. The fall part easily and give you sores putting them together! Lego brick were made in the early 1950s. Out of WOOD and METAL Which then progressed to plastic.
megabloks even copied Legos' mystery bags! How cheap is that?!?!?!?! I wish they would leave Lego alone! That's my opinion. I'm not trying to be rude, but it's like taking a patented thing, taking it home, and put a patent on it saying you made it yourself. God Bless ~ Pendolium

Quoting Brick -(Reaper)- Star
I hate mega blocks for 2 reasons.

1. It is a VERY crapy knock off of Lego.

2. It gets mixed up with lego and gets given as a gift to some one who wants lego!
I always had used MB and Lego together before I got serious about my MOCs. And now that I'm purest, I have all these mega blocks to sort out and get rid of! Thats over 300 bucks worth off mega blocks to replace with Lego! And 300 bucks worth of MBs, is like 700 some-odd dollars in lego!

Same story. I hadn't thought of this before, 'cause I usually just throw the mb I find fire, but I thought of selling them on E-bay or something! You get paid to get rid of the junk, and that's just less money you have to pay for Legos! God Bless ~ Pendolium

When I was 6, I bought a Megabloks set and was really excited. Now, the parts are cracked and look terrible. The Lego I had then is in fine condition now, and I use them regularly.

I hate Megablocks, not just because of the quality and the resin, but because they have copied what was legos. I bought megablocks for my 10 year old kid and he hates it. Breaks easily, hard to put together, not challenging but hard to fit one brick to the other and the color is way off. Lego should sue Megablocks just for doing that and i bet lego will win. People may just buy them because of the price but we are all forgetting one important factor, Legos has been in our lives and even my dad's lives since he was a kid, I would want all my kids to have legos. Yeah they cost more, but they do not let us down, my dad's set which was a 1978 yellow castle is still in good condition today, might be a bit dusty but just washing it off will be just fine. We buy legos every year for my kids and many other kids in our family, kind of a tradition. Never will Megablocks be as good as Lego.

Quoting Rotten Apple
MegaBloks copied LEGO. MegaBloks is hard to put together. MegaBloks has Halo (!!!). MegaBloks is cheaply made.
I agree!
