Reintroducing myself to LEGO. Was a fan as a child but lost that fandome as an adult. Back again and loving it. So impressed with what everyone is doing. Keep up the good work everyone! I enjoy taking original LEGO Technic models and improving them. I also enjoy creating simple and complex mechanics out of nothing more than LEGO, and scaling buildings, machines, vehicles and getting down to the nitty-gritty math and physics that make such scaling possible.
As can be seen when you browse through my pages, I am not conservative in my use of LEGO and other elements. I do believe in modifying bricks if needed. I am a big fan of 3D printing and potential element configurations through such means. As of yet, I have not used any 3D printing elements, but will do so should the opportunity arise. I first am a builder....and it just so happens that LEGO is (in my opinion) the best medium to achieve that means (that I know of). I have however, used some stainless steel parts for applications that require more strength. Below are some examples of my more unconventional use of parts for my builds (this page is a work in progress... I will get to these images. Please be patient as I update some things.)
Here is one of my latest creations. To my knowledge, the only Lego wheeled vehicle that can go through 7 inches of water.
My Flag Counter was added late in the game (years and years later) so it does not accurately reflect visitors to this page. It is still a very cool addition however!
Lastly, here is a little comic that I think nicely personifies my dedication to hobbies and all things out-of-the-norm.
We as LEGO fans are likely all very passionate about our hobby. But, not sure that categorizes us ALL as geeks. I am not sure what I am, because as with all scales like this, there is some error. I'm gonna go ahead with nerd (my username, after all... is nerds.. for... prez (president). Although I am super passionate about my hobbies, I also enjoy academics and see the term "nerd" as a melding together of passion and a desire to understand the odd and/or different. I have to admit, I was not aware of the distinction between the terms above until now, and other than IMO it being funny, don't really care about the distinction, so..... I don't think dork really applies either (my wife would disagree. She would think that I am all three). Therefore.... I surmise (see that academic term there... ) that I am a nerd. I think nerds rock....... and if one were to run for president of the world I would vote for him/her. One that is passionate for his/her hobbies has to have a passion for life... right? One who has a love for the odd IMO can appreciate not only themes and commonalities in life of the uncommon and un-mainstream as well. Perfect qualities to have.....Nerds-For-President!
Which are you? Nerd? Geek? Dork? All of the above?
