This is Planet Maherty, a science fiction / fantasy storyline based on the planet known as Maherty and its colonization by the Mayleen species. This is an old, original story, told out with Legos and created by my brother and I, as well as some inspiration and ideas from our good friends.
The planet of Maherty is inhabitated by a people known as the Alumera. The Alumera trade amongst themselves and live off the land.
Maherty has known only warfare since the return of legendary creatures known as the Kin. The Kin are creatures of darkness, thriving in areas lacking exposure to ultraviolet radiation. They possess incredible durability, strength, and other abilities. They have come to the surface of Maherty of centuries of rest within the planet's core.
The Kin have now grown very powerful. They have inhabited the bodies of many Alumera to create a group known as the Taken. The Taken are a cult of Alumera who worship the Kin or serve as hosts to their power. They fight fellow Alumera and have gained many allies in their war to rule Maherty, including a group of space pirates and another alien species called the Miktai.
But another group of creatures lives on Maherty, the 'limbo walkers', or Artifacts. The Artifacts are invincible creatures who wander the planet, interfering in the affairs of both the Kin and the Alumera. The Artifacts rule territories within Maherty's lone continent, Vaxdraa.
After years of battle with the Kin, the Alumera have found a new ally. An alien species who are always expanding their borders, the Mayleen have agreed to help the Alumera to fight the Kin. However the Kin have only become stronger since the arrival of the Mayleen's army of robots.
On another nearby world called Seycleuf, the roboid alien race called the Hahneh are facing the explanding Mayleen empire. A secluded group of beings, the Hahneh have befun their own war against a small group of Mayleen colonizers. Matching technology levels with the Mayleen, the Hahneh are causing the Mayleen Empire additional grief. Combined with the Kin and Miktai, the Hahneh resistance may prove too much for the Mayleen to handle.
The other thing here is our unrelated Heroica characters, maps, and rules. I GM Heroica for an afterschool kids lesson group and try to inspire wonder in my students by getting them into some roleplaying games (these students are learning English as a foreign language, so the roleplaying game Heroica can only be used with the higher level students). Hope you can enjoy some of our creations for Heroica too.
Some of the character Class Set ideas are...
Magic Users - use magic for special abilities
Dark Magic Users - use dark magic and are cursed
Knights - duty-bound swordsmen
Sneakers - use stealth to attack by surprise or infiltrate for rpging
Leaders - give extra turns to fellow adventurers
Miscellaneous - everything else under the sun (or moon)
or a bit more advanced rules...
Traditional - traditional character classes like dwarves, elves, etc.
Fliers - get off the map by using special advanced rules
Bridgers - get the game going a little faster for big maps
