United Mecha and Accessories Co. or as it is better known, UMAC, started out in 3014 as a company that built household mechs, such as the MDZ-001-28 Series. It later moved on to construction mechs, and then to exploration mechs. The A1-002 Diver Mech, made before the A1 Series was discontinued, was one such exploration mech. Then the company was bought by the military, and started making combat mechs. One of the A1 Series Mechs, the A1-001 Hunter, originally a jungle explorer mech, was altered to become UMAC's first fighter mech. It had a very basic Orbital Launcher, and couldn't do very much. It had guns, but they fired solid projectiles, not energy blasts like the guns of the time.
Then UMAC was given project guidelines, and blueprints for a warp drive with the words: "Make it happen. I want a Mech that can warp from one side of the battle to the other in an instant--an INSTANT! I want the upper hand in any future wars, and i want to have mechs to do it. You have six months. Start planning."
-Commander A. G. Auberdale, 3076
UMAC went to work, made the warp-drives mech size, and made the mech to fit them on. The warps were too small to boost the mech more than a few miles. When not in use, the warps, which were patented as JumpBoosts, folded out to either side of the mech, giving it "wings". It was called the A2-001 ArchAngel, the first in the A2 Series. The Commander disapproved of the name: "ArchAngel, huh? Well, its not like this is getting vengeance for anything. Personally, I would have called it the A2-001 Jackal, because of its pointed ears."
-Commander A. G. Auberdale, 3077
The second-to last mech made by UMAC to date was the A2-002 Avalon Angel. The Avalon Angel was made when the frame from an enemy mech, beaten by the ArchAngel, was shipped to UMAC Galldale Base. The structural design was good, however, the materials used were abominable. Beta-grade ion-steel, and paint. That was all it was. The Engineers, including me, created a new type of ion-steel alloy, called Omega-grade. Omega-grade ion-ally was the lightest, fastest, most maneuverable metal ever. Plus, it hasn't been leaked to the enemy engineers yet. The Avalon angel was based on a good frame, and had a very destructive gun, but its greater mass needed a better design for the JumpBoosts. There were four JumpBoosts placed on the Avalon Angels back, all of them facing outward. two were inverted and placed under the remaining two. This created a much better design, but the ArchAngel wasn't updated because it didn't have the area on its back for the task.
The next and newest mech to be made by UMAC was the A2-003 Aries Assault Mech, or AAM for short. The Aries Assault was made as a big defense mech, to protect smaller mechs in a fight. it had a big shield on each arm, and when it smashed its fists together, then a bubble shield made of gaseous Biluminite would coat it. Believe it or not, even gaseous Biluminite deflects projectiles. it also softens physical blows to the mech.
Another Mech that was created by UMAC was the A2-004 Titanus. It was a failure, and no one liked it. Enough about it.
The newest mech was the C1-001 Angel Biomech. The Angel was named after the four wings on its back. it was made from the DNA of an ancient creature found dead on one of the planets that UMAC set a base on. It was cloned, but into a biomechanical form, making it the first ever biomech. It had four arms and weilded two big guns.
More mechs to come. as soon as i can obtain their Data Files.:)
