Racta Magna is a small, fairly insignificant planet a short distance away from Spherus Magna. While not looked upon in high regards by the universe, it is considered a fairly conveniant Pit Stop for travellers, meaning that almost every known species in the Matoran Universe has stepped foot there once.
Racta Magna was orignally home to a species of Warriors named Gostoks, until a large amount of Toa and Matoran, led by a Toa named Trokan, immigrated there. The Gostoks acted with hostility, and a hundred-year-war took place between the Toa and the Gostoks. The Toa eventually won and drove the Gostoks to extinction. Trokan was transformed into a Turaga towards the end of the war.
Most on the planet lived in Racta Major, the main city, which was protected by The Toa Racta (Onika, Benu, Galika, Korapa, Parah, Leka, Thorax), but some lived in Racta Minus, a large system of canyons which block out the light. This was best noted for being home to the Makuta Sombrak (Aroxion, Astrok, Reshak, Bestox, Soldok, Zarliz, Arvour, Fantos), a surviving faction of the Brotherhood of Makuta who sought to rule the entire planet
The first notable event concerning the inhabitants of Racta Magna was the days of “Shadowed Magna”, the first serious clash between the Makuta Sombrak and the Toa Racta. Little is known of how it started, or its precise events. All that is known is that during this time a Toa named Thorax transformed into Takathorax, the Toa of Light, and that this entity defeated the Sombrak leader, Aroxion.
Quite some time later, Toa Cilla warned Raxonax of a new threat; Shadonax, his evil duplicate, was threatening the peace. Raxonax set out to stop him. Although he failed, he met two new friends; Clank and Toa Galia. The two Toa eventually fell in love with each other, although the two soon separated (remaining as friends) because of personal issues.
Raxonax was later summoned by the Order of Mata Nui, to help deal with the returning threat of the Sombrak, whom had returned to torment the peoples of Racta Magna once more, though they agreed to step down after the killing of an enemy of theirs.
The Sombrak, however, later broke the truce when they attempted to steal the “Spear of Strength”, a powerful artifact, but were stopped by Toa Montu, who was also battling a Dark Hunter named Les Tenebres, who harboured a grudge against Montu, and also combating a parasite inside of him known only as "the Leech". Montu was aided by Cilla, "Light Aroxion" and Rugaki, the "daughter" of Aroxion.
Meanwhile, upon discovering that Racta Magna held “the Gate”, a path from the world of the living to the world of the dead, Thanatos, the self styled “God of Death”, attempted to destroy the planet along with The Destroyer’s Three, and his “Cult of Thanatos”, a group of criminals lead by Nebulus. The Toa Racta intervened. After a long desperate struggle, Nebulus was killed, the Cult disbanded, and Thanatos and his demonic three were trapped inside Nebulus’ Black Hole Staff.
Not so long afterwards, a Toa of poison known as Raznor and his Vahki took over Racta Major, the capital of Racta Magna, and attempted to free Thanatos from the Black Hole Staff. However, his plan was foiled by Turaga Trokan and Toa Benu, who had been transformed into a Matoran by Raznor.
Very shortly after this, Trokan died of natural causes, but not before warning Toa Onika that prophecies predicted a final battle between the Toa Racta and the Sombrak, one side being completely anihilated. Simultaneously, Makuta Aroxion began staging an attack on Racta Magna, sending Soldok, Bestox, Infected Rahi, Vahki and the robotic Mata-Drones marching into the aincient city named Nolybas, defeating Montu and his friends and killing Rugaki.
In response to this, The Toa Racta set about gathering six elemental staffs that could assumedly kill a Makuta, aided by Galia, who had originally obtained and hid them. The Toa Racta then teamed up with Raxonax and his gang, Montu and his gang, Soka and Takathorax and returned to Racta Major to prepare for the attack.
Bestox returned to Racta Minus, allowing Aroxion and the others to begin their march to Racta Major. They met the Toa at the gates of the city and begun a fierce battle, during which most of the Sombrak were killed, excluding Reshak, who teleported to saftey at the end of the battle, and Aroxion, who slipped past the gates into the city. There he battled Takathorax and "Light Aroxion", nearly killing the both of them until the Toa Racta entered the city and blasted him with the Elemental Staffs. Unfortunately, this only seemed to make Aroxion more powerful. "Light Aroxion" then suggested using the staffs to charge himself up, and combined with his own powers, charged at Aroxion. This resulted in an explosion which killed both Aroxions and transformed the Toa Racta into Turaga, officially ending the Racta/Sombrak war.
Since the incident, Racta Major has enjoyed a time of peace, everybody returning to their homes and carrying on with their business. This lasted until Toa Krode discovered that Makuta Reshak had survived, and was planning to resurrect his father. Turaga Onika suggested putting together the Contenders, a team of six Toa (Raxonax, Galia, Cilla, Montu, Dorru, Takathorax) to counter Reshak's attack. Reshak summoned his three children (Dukrina, Apothrahk, Thisrahk) To counter them. Reshak managed to steal the Black Hole Staff from Racta Major and release Thanatos and the Destroyer's Three, who helped him retrieve the Gate. A final battle occurred in Racta Major, where Reshak failed to revive Aroxion and killed after Takathorax sacrificed his life to stop him.
While this was happening, Raxonax began recieving hallucinations about Shadonax, and believed he was going insane. It was eventually discovered that Shadonax was trying to telepathically contact the Toa of Gravity. They talked and agreed to meet for a final battle.
