-The United Canadian Republic-
In the 1980s, tensions increased in the western region of Canada. Communist separatists reclaimed the independence of British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories; and many terrotist attacks happened in these provinces. After many conflicts and helped by Soviet and Cuban forces, the separatists proclaimed the independence of these provinces and formed People's Republic of Solennia in 1985. Ottawa, the then capital of Canada, reacted fastly. Troops were sent at the new borders and a new country emerged, the United Canadian Republic.
Montreal was designated as the new capital of the new Republic. This was decided because the military commanders realized that Ottawa was too vulnerable to missiles of the Solennian People's Liberation Army.
The Army Reorganized
The newly formed United Canadian Army was reorganized. Old technologies were replaced by state-of-the-art weapons, planes, vehicles, etc.
A new military unit was formed, the Canadian SAS, or Special Air Service, in 1990. Its task would be to protect the country from Solennian aggressions and terrorist attacks. Inspired directly by the British Special Air Service, it is equipped with high technology weaponry and has a good logistic support.
Tank designs which weren't ready for production were rushed into production and the new Panther Mk.1 was put in service in 2010.
Further Attacks
The People's Liberation Army of Solennia, or PLAS, attacked the Saskatchewan province. They wanted the agricultural resources of this province because they were missing agriculturalressources, British Columbia and Yukon not having lots of them.
The Manian Army opposed fierce resistance and a big military task force was sent there, composed mainly of soldiers from the United Canadian Republic, the United States and other NATO countries. Many Canadian SAS raids were carried in order to force the invaders to retreat, destroying key objectives like outposts and ammunition depots.
Another World Conflict
In 2547, war has engulfed the world. The galaxy is in a big conflict opposing the United States & the United Canadian Republic to the Asian Alliance & the United African Republic.
The Europeans decided to stay out of this war for the moment, although they provide supplies to the Canadians and the Americans but, they are likely to ally with them soon.
Arctic Warfare
In 2548, the Asian Alliance forces (an alliance formed by Japan, China and neighbouring Asian countries) decided to attack the eastern part of Siberia to capture its resources andthe big powerplant in Vladivostok. The Canadians, allies of the Russians, helped the latters to counter this attack. This resulted in the Battle of Vladivostok.
