SWAT TRF-1. Urban police mecha. Tactical Response Fire or (TRF)
About this creation
In the future police turn to mech's to help keep the streets safe. In particular SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) finds the use of mechs to be of particular effectiveness. TRF (Tactical Response Fire) is used to for sniper fire and and operations that require a little more "finesse". It is designed to be effective in close quarters. A high velocity particle rifle is its only weapon equiped with a linked scope.
This mecha was inspired by my realization that my mechs had been much larger. I thought I should take a mech in the other direction. I began with the "head" in this case and built a body to match that size. With some tinkering and rebuilds I decided I wanted a white with black highlights motif. When it was finished I realized that it looked very "police-like". And of course you can't be the regular police you have to be on the SWAT squad.
I certainly looked at other power-suits and hard-suits for ideas about joints. I haven't seen anyone use the binoculars as a knee joint though (I would like to think its my one original contribution to mecha). I've seen other builders use this elbow design. It's great for a static pose and I am pleased with it here (but, it has no other position so it can take some time to get used to its lack of mobility).
In general I am very pleased with how this mech turned out. I think it looks balanced and it is nicely articulated. It does deviate from something I like my MOC's to have: "playibility". The TRF-1 is not designed for children to handle (well... I suppose they could play with it for all of about 5 seconds til it disintegrated). I do like my MOCs to have a little ruggedness to them.
