H&K G36C semi automatic brickshooter
a working semi auto brickshooter model of the famous HK G36C. includes folding stock, safety, tactical foregrip and can also be used as an RBG
About this creation
The Heckler and Koch G36C is by far my favourite assault rifle. it has the looks, the specifications, and the results. it is the shortest assault rifle in the world of its caliber (5.56 NATO), and so is the obvious solution to urban or size-restricted warfare.
the G36 family is one of the best families of assault rifles in the world. it proved through tests to be very reliable and accurate, and its made by H&K! it doesnt take a genius to work out that this is a seriously good gun.

obviously, my gun isnt lethal, and is made of lego. its still pretty decent though. it has a folding stock (with locks for open and closed positions), a detachable tactical foregrip, working sights, working safety, and a 10+ round magazine of 1x4 bricks and RBs.

click here to see a video

it works like any RB-powered brickshooter, but if you dont know how they work then ill tell you: when you pull the trigger (if the safety is off), the RB mechanism releases 1 RB. this flies down the barrel, and hooks onto the back of the top brick protruding from the magazine. as this brick is only held in place by the bricks underneath it pressing it against the roof, the RB can easily pull it out. they then both fly dowm the barrel, with the RB falling away at the end and the brick shooting forward. this repeats every time you pull the trigger.

as with any RB-powered brickshooter, it can also be used as just an RBG. this is useful when there is a risk of breaking things, eg drinks glasses etc.

the safety catch works by locking the trigger. on the real gun the catch is also a fire selector, but as this gun can only be semi auto then this is just a safety.

to load the gun, put 2 fingers in the end of the barrel and force the upper and lower sections apart. the whole to section is on a hinge at the back and so the top swings away. this gives you access to the RB gear and the top of the magazine, so you can load the RBs and bricks.

i have loaded the gun with up to 10 RBs. the gun RB mechanism probably could take more and the magazine definately could, but i dont want to accidentally break it so i stick with 10 bullets. its all you need, really.

pics
the gun, left side

the gun, right side. you can see the places where the stock had to be made 1 stud wide instead of 2 so that i could fit the safety and strengthening cross-beams in.

left side, loaded, 10 bricks & RBs

stock closed, right side

grip and safety (safety off)

same, but safety on

tactical foregrip (detachable)

stock close-up

magazine close-up (empty)

magazine, loaded, 10 bricks. you can see that theres loads more room for more bricks

sight picture (that means aiming)

foresight

FPS

how the gun opens up for loading

barrel roof. it has walls to make the brick stay roughly parallel to the barrel as it fires

the inside mechanism. notice that this part of the barrel does not have sides, so that the RBs dont get in the way of the fired brick

close up of the machanism, loaded. you can see the angled piece that stops the RBs stopping the bricks from coming up into the barel. also, for you eagle-eyed viewers, i am holding the magazine down because otherwise all the bullets would fly out.

stock lock for locking the stock open. it uses the same idea as the real gun as i wasnt satisfied with using pins, but on my gun the moving parts are in the main body, not the stock.

the piece that locks it closed. as the stud is part of the actual piece, there is no pin to come out and get stuck in the main body, coz when this happens its really annoying

rear view of the gun, stock closed.

where the other ends of the RBs hook, in case you were wondering

and one last look at the gun, in case you didnt quite observe the awesomeness first time round

thats it - tell me what you think!

I like the Idea, but for the RB release? I need some instruction for having one released at a time and not all. And yes, loads more bricks but you have to "prime" it twice if you have 20 bricks. Love it!

Quoting Chas Irish I need to build a high capacity mechanism that shoots one shot at a time. That's my only problem with gear mechanisms. I can never tell where to put my rubber bands so it shoots one at a time.
yeh hi-caps are tricky. the 6 point spindle was a stroke of genius, but i still had 20 bands trying to transform the P90 into twisted plastic. thats why i dont go over 20 bands on single-barreled RBGs!

The only thing I would have you change about the gun is the clip. It should be a wider. That's pretty much it. Overall it is a very good gun. And once again, your P90 looks great! I need to build a high capacity mechanism that shoots one shot at a time. That's my only problem with gear mechanisms. I can never tell where to put my rubber bands so it shoots one at a time.

Wow that is very realistic! I have held a G36C so I know. The local SERT team had an open house and I went and watched them do house clearing techniques and saw flash bangs used. even got to go on the range and use a Cops Glock 17! It was awesome! one thing I think your gun needs though would be a red dot sight and a flash light. the light switch should be on the fore grip so when you squeeze the fore grip it go's on. anyways great job. could you check out some of my MOC's please?

a good gun using the most popular brick- shooting mechanism. I am rating it a 5 because it looks nice and functions well, but i just dont think it really meets the jack streat standards. nice gun though, keep it up!

Amazing as usual but tell me one thing. Do you think my Large compacity trigger could work with this? I mean this looks like an easy concept I just don't have the legos to do it. I think I could make a mini version though...
