The Portal
In the middle of the Desert rides a warrior, in search of another world . . .
About this creation
This moc was Moc Of The Day on 6 September 2011
- - -

After days of travelling through the desert a lone traveller finally arrives at his destination...
The mysterious black pool of legend, it is said that men lost in the desert come accross the pool and drink from it out of thirst but the fluid in the pool is not water...
This man however intended to find the pool, carrying wisdom his predecessors did not have. He is aware of the poisonous content of the pool and what hidden treasure it contains as well.

Two statues are guarding the pool, statues like these can be found all over the world, standing tall for ages but absent memory of their origins...

The exhausted horse runs towards the black pool with the intention to drink out of it.

The moment the horse comes in contact with the liquid the stone guards move as if triggered by a trap.

Moving slowly but with incredible strenght they form another challenge...

Taking advantage of the slowness of the stone guardians our hero manages to claim victory...

...The horse must have died because of the poison...

Standing before the pool of legend, there's no way back now, the horse is gone. But the hero knows the way forward...

He takes his magical diamond in his hand and sais; "may this rock open my way to fortune..." as he drops the diamond in the black liquid.

The diamond sank in the liquid...Taking a step back.

The ground shakes while the liquid is boiling.

A magnificent gate appeared in front of him

He can't believe what he's seeing though he it is what he expected...

at first sight this looks like an ordinary gate but what he sees is amazing.

"So the Portal really does excist, the only link to the other world and I found it"

the warrior went through the portal and by doing that he stepped out of the desert into a green forest

There are tree's flowers and water !

it's a two way portal (...you can see a small mistake on the right side of the portal, I forgot to add a green brick )

So, I hope you liked it,
to answer a question I get a lot asked:
I don't make a plan first to build a moc, I just take some pieces and build whatever that's in my head.
Actually I was thinking about a "boarding Tantive IV" vignette when I made the Portal itself

UPDATE
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'm considering making this into a stop-motion, here's my first try on the portal concept. I think it will take a lot of tries before I can present you something decent.

Fantastic. I'm really happy this made it to MOTD or I would never have found this fantastic build. The stopmotion must have been an epic work. The tiny inperfections make it even more impressive, as now one can see it's no fake. Can I give this moc 6 smiley's somehow?

And no i can't hear the music- because it says that "they are not available in your country due to licence problems" or something like that- i can see the player but not to hear it :(

FANTASTIC!!! The story is simple but wonderful, and for a small amount of bricks you illustrated it beautifully. I also have to comment about the music (which I like to include in my MOCs when it seems fitting). I loved your selection. It fit perfectly with the story and really enhanced the whole presentation. If you would be willing to share the information with me, I'd love to know the method you used to embed the music. I have one way now, but this way would be a marked improvement. Please email me, if you wouldn't mind sharing the info...mark@markkelsoart.com. Thanks, and TERRIFIC work!!

Great job! Quite fantastic. It's funny I was listening to some Legend of Zelda music, in another window, while looking at this. I found myself trying to remember where this music had been in Windwaker, to find myself stumped. Anyway, great music! (Once I found out where it was coming from.) I looooove those stone guards! Quoting Elite Commando: squirrel wood The music is a great touch, it fits the whole thing perfectly! And the story is awesome, very creative, and finally, the build is great! you gave the forest a very lush look, especially with the waterfall. And on the other side, the desert looks like a vast wasteland, and the guards look very cool. P.S. Did you by chance get any inspiration from Legend of Zelda? It seems a little Zelda-esque...
