The DE 106 Mercury, or "Merc" for short, is the replacement of the now obsolete DE 40. It was designed for head on dog-fighting, and is not a multi-role, like the 105.
It seems that these two are very similiar, and in cosmetics, they are. But the construction on each is slightly modified, as you will see.
Hermes and Mercury are the same people. I just didn't want to crack open my mythology books to find another name.
The Merc pictured is from a group of fighters called the Astro squadron. They are hired out to back up superiority fighters when it comes to spacecraft battles.
I modified both fighters by moving the huge slope pieces one stud forward. This takes most of the stress off of the connection points. The previous configuration pressed on the canopy, and it eventually broke apart.
I am firm in my belief that these are up to par with most spacecraft on mocpages. I'm still lagging behind Peter Morris, but lets face the facts. You can't beat the model that inspires you.
The generics. These things can form into many different fighters. Credit to Peter Morris for the idea.
Thanks for looking! Time will tell if I can top these.
The DE105 was good, and this two new versions are even better. It's easy to see you put some work in it - well build and elegant ships ! To Pedro: no offence, but if you don't like ships, don't comment on it. Ships are so fun to build, and there's a lot of way to do cool ships, so I thinks it's not a problem to do a lot of them :)
I like it

get OFF the space stage ok? everytime you add a creation its always some type of shippp, try a different subject ok?
It's called the Hangar Bay for a reason. I believe that was fair warning. I am, however, developing plans for a new security GROUND vehicle. If it makes it to the building stage, which they never do, then I'll be sure to add it here. Until then, you should probably get underground, because I'll be attacking from the air and space!
