medium-sized pickup turned hot rod. beefy V8, sweet exhaust pipes and some cool design elements are the features of this hot rod.
About this creation
After checking out Tterbo's new Redskin hot rod, i knew i had to build my own pickup truck/hot rod. I wanted to focus on the bodywork instead of the engine this time around, so the engine isn't that spectacular - a single compressor bolted on top of my usual V8 design. to compensate, two nitrous oxide bottles are in the loading bay ;)
the bodywork is, as mentioned before, a bit more noteworthy. i wanted to make the roof look aggressive, but without resorting to the old standby trick of making the front edge of the roof overhanging the front windscreen. the angular piece i used works pretty well in this respect.
the paint job on the side is fairly standard, i've used it on my Skullptura before. still, i really like the way it looks, and it adds some dynamics to the truck.
as for the exhausts, i was just toying around with some new design ideas, and this turned out. i like the way it looks, the "vertical" building style really fits the idea of a tuned and chopped pickup truck in my opinion.
the rear portion of the truck complements the aggressive roof. the flared wheel arches are definitely my favorite part of the truck, and the angled rear looks really cool too.
all in all, i'm pretty happy with this MOC. it looks pretty sweet overall, and i managed to incorporate some nice design ideas. the engine's a bit undersized for my standards, so that's something i'm probably gonna improve on if i get around to building a :Reloaded version of this baby.

Your totally right about my semi being too short, I so missed that. The jet engines aren't much more than black tubes on the real thing, but the real reason I didn't add more detail was I was out of pieces. I have a very limited amount of legos, so its hard to put a lot of detail on large creations. Thanks for the comment though, it helps when people comment so I know when I do something wrong.
I have an idea: lets do a contest on a specific car and see who can build the biggest best engine. That would be challenging and a lot of fun. Whadya' think? |

Well, I wasn't exactly challenging you here, and if I was you soooo win. But my next MOC will knock down every engine in the entire website. No kidding. 3 jet engines producing 36,000 horse power. No more need be said. |

Astonishing indeed! :). Thanks for the mention. This is one really awesome truck! I really like the paint job, simple, but it takes the plainness out of just plain red. The only thing that I don't much care for is the pipes. They look to big and bulky. But other than that, this is great. And welcome to my favorite builders list.
P.S. Please join and add this to my group 'Exclusively Pickups'. I'll send you an invitation. |

Astonishing. And then I counted the stud width...10, including fenders? The quality/size ratio is what I use to rate MOCs, and this is a masterpiece. Keep it up, (I like the exhausts too) -matthew- |

Wow indeed! That thing scrapes the ground! Your best Rod yet I reckon : ) If you do get round to a reloaded version I think this needs larger diameter rear wheels (as the fronts are bigger (not including tyres)) and maybe head/tail lights. Despite that, an awesome creation. Time to make you a Rod Club moderator me thinks... |
