About this creation
The United States Civil War saw the first use of railways for military purposes and tactics that have repeated ever since, supply, destruction of supply, and mounting artillery on rail.

This Union mortar was a typical use. Designed to be pushed in front of a locomotive. Crew shielding was improvised from available material.

It shares with it’s heavier cousins in later wars the need for a massive under frame and a limited traverse.

The war was also saw the first attempts of disrupting the enemies supply lines. This tactic was particularly used by the confederate forces who by comparison used the rail lines less than the Union forces. Small parties could easily remove a few rails or burn a few ties crippling a rail line. Much of the southern rail was ripped up to provide iron for armor and other uses.

I wrote a review awhile ago, but it's no longer up. Am I really that bad? Anyway like I said before, I think it's great. Looks just like the real deal. Also I'm making a list of links to what I consider great Civil War creations on my MOCpages site as a quick reference for others interested in all things related to the Civil War in Lego. May I please use your creation as a link?
