R/C Drift Car
This is not your typical R/C car. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, this may be the first LEGO drift racing car ever posted on the internet!!! Cool, eh? My inspiration came from the new R/C set (#8183) when I decided to swap out the rubber wheels for plastic ones! Now it only slides 'round corners! There you have it...enjoy yourselves now!
About this creation
The back looks sorta like a Nissan 350Z, even though I didn't try to make it look similar at all...hmmm...looks like I need LEGO skills counseling!

Side view. The spoiler can be adjusted.

Car and remote! Yes, this is an R/C car and if you don't believe me, check out the video below...

The bulk of the car is used up by the massive remote control chassis.

Whoa! Hold onto your seatbelts! Ahhhhh!!!!

Video! And very unfitting music! Haha!

Very nice. Is this still intact? If so, why not try putting regular tyres on the front? I can't say I've tried it, but I think having more grip on the front would make it drift more...

Quoting Jonathan Petersen Awsome look! oh Question is it worth spending like $40 to get the rc car? please respond. and great job on all of your creations.:)
Overall it's a pretty good deal! As long as you have other parts to put on the chassis besides the ones the set provides :) Also, the R/C chassis can be used on almost anything! Thanks for all your comments!

Quoting Illya Verpraet Very good, it's WAY better than the original Lego set, they use too many stickers. The car even looks good as a normal, non-rc car. Excellent, 5***** BTW: how high is the rc-base? Maybe I 'll buy the set too and I would like to know what changes I could make.
The R/C chassis is about 2 1/2 bricks tall and the R/C receiver thing is about 3 bricks taller still. As you can see, I disguised the receiver as a roof scoop. I suggest buying it. ;D

That's awesome! I love it. Make an R/C Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. That would be EPIC! BTW: Call this stereotypical of myself, but when I get a car, I'll probably try to drift. Hopefully I don't have the negative driving stereotype though. ~Ping Phong

I bought this set last year and 40 bucks dosent make it worth it but I only bought it for the engine part. Excellent use of the plastic tires for drifting.Oh also I E-mailed you Iwant those SMG instructions Pu-lease!!!!!
  March 19, 2009
INSANE!! And not just the car's ability to drift. I also like the lines of the car, as well as that spoiler. Just an all around excellent car, worthy of 5/5! Sorry I didn't write a comment sooner. (I'm still waiting for the new server) Oh, I forgot! What kind of batteries does the rc chassis use?

Sorry for the wait, I'm going to have to re-write my comment, ARGH! I can't remember quite what I said, but I like it a lot :) In my opinion, the drift mode thingy is very clever, I would never ever ever have thought of that! btw, the lights and grille are awfully sweet too, as is the spoiler. The spoiler is definitely one of my favorite details about this car, especially the way those little pointy flag things ('know what I mean?) at the spoiler tips add so much character. The exhaust pipes are cool too, if not a cliche, however I'm not too fond of the back end, besides the spoiler. It just looks kinda... unfinished. Dunno what's wrong with it. Anyways, not critisizing here, but also - the rims look very cool on this car :D It's also cliched, but looks especially awesome here, I don't know if I've seen a cooler car of this scale with the rims and match so well, so you get extra points for that ;) anyways, that pretty much wraps up my review, keep it up (how many times have poeple said that on mocpages?), 5/5, Awesomeness To The Max this is. Wild! see ya :D Ps. You should make more of this scale.

Quoting Fred Ottens Dylan, this is great!! Goodlooking, and fun to drive. I have to buy this set too one of these days. BTW, how to you put Youtube movies on the page? Greetings, Fred.
If you go to the video's viewing page and look at the video description at the right, there should be a line that says "embed this video" underneath that is the html code which you just copy/paste into the MOCpages page creator :D

You wouldn't believe it; yesterday I've get this set and you'll see an RC LEGO car from me soon ;) you really did a fantastic job on this one, the RC chassis is very big for an 8 or 10 wide car, so making a cool cars with it isn't an easy job, but you got it right, and that video is really great, I'm sure it took you for ever to make it, it's not that easy to control it... by the way are those a LEGO tires!? I need wheels like these to show off with them a little bit ;0 any way great work all around >>> peace.. Fofo :)

This is excellent. I didn't even know this was a set until I saw this. The model is great, it looks very smooth, and the design looks very well thought through. I love the fact that it's actually an R/C... BTW I'll have a new model of my Jeep with working suspension coming soon, so be on the lookout... ;)

Quoting SHARPSPEED . Sweet! first comment! Cool car! I like the Tokyo drift style to it, and with tiers life that, it should slide like its driving on Butter! XD. 5/5
Kinda..when I first started dirving just the chassis, i couldn't get it to go straight, but by the time I was finished, it weighed a LOT more! It gained more traction then I was hoping so it took a while to make it dirft right for the video. It could pull off much tigher donuts if the body was lighter :(
