Trial Truck 6x6
Pendular suspension on all wheels
About this creation
A quick trial truck with all the functions you need like suspension on all wheels and no rubber bands used.
100% purist

as you can see: none of the wheels ever touch the fenders, there is a mechanism to stop them all one millimeter before they touch the fenders.

Chassis

the pendular suspension. it is a design that keeps the car from tilting side to side and tilting front to back.

(I included Instructions for a demo model of this truck. the suspension works there but I did not include the SNOT front)

I have used something similar to this suspension a number of times and the articulation is GREAT fun in the backyard, pulled by a fishing pole from a distance. Right now I've got some cool stuff under way and I might need a little input here and there...

Very pretty. Of course, the suspension is the main feature...my first thought was that, if all those joints and pivots had controls and hydraulics to make them move, you could drop the whole truck into the ocean and it could swim! However, I didn't like the wheels. You showed the pics of it up on that red block...but the wheels are too small for that size truck to pull up onto that size red block, realistically. At least it seemed that way to me. Altogether, though, great build. Keep it up, -matthew- p.s. I know you probably get tired of people asking you to comment on their stuff, but I will be posting a 6-wide soon, and I hope you think it is a good one. It is a beat-up Honda Civic CRX. Thanks. p.p.s. Do I have the longest comment on this truck yet?!

Quoting Ape Fight That's brilliant! Really inventive. Shows your skill at using small simple parts to make something function realistically. Does anyone know if pendular suspension would work on a large scale model without shock absorbers? I only have one shock (I broke my other one whilst dismantling a motorbike too vigorously!) but would quite like pendular suspension on a large(ish) scale truck.
Thanks and yes this would work on a large scale model. i have tried.

*wolf whistles* Dude! I am so happy you posted something, so happy you're fighting that dark age! It's also nice to see you build something else than black hot rods ;p Well, on to the model.... I'm not quite sure how the suspension looks, I've taken a close look at it and I'll try to steal it someday (just kiddin'!). The design of the truck itself is pretty cool too, and I agree with Firas, it does look like an old Russian off-road 6x6. however, what does "trial truck" mean? Anyways, and excellent moc to sum it up! 4/5, keep it up! Can't wait for your next creation/rod, even if it's black :D Ps. I posted a new large-scale on flickr.
