Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise take a look at the future and are not amused.
About this creation
Would you look at that?
My friends, the great experiment: Excelsior, ready for trial runs...
She's supposed to have transwarp drive...
Aye. And if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon.
Come, come, Scotty. Young minds. Fresh ideas. Be tolerant.
A scene from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The Enterprise and Excelsior are in scale with each other, but the shuttlecraft are not.
I originally intended for the spacedock interior to be modeled in lego but it never came out right. I may attempt it again later.
Enterprise Model inspired by Maskatron (a.k.a. Corey Sanders)
Spacedock model by Redragon (Luan Ngo) (Star Trek: Homeworld Team), part of fungun's Star Trek in Earth orbit add-on for Celestia.
Glowing brinks created by work by Tore Eriksson
Decals created by Scott Wardlaw's Lego CAD Sticker Generator.
Rendered in POVRay
I guess you would need a super computer from the Defense Department to run that much info all at the same time. That makes sense. So it's a prefab background, I get it now...But having both Starships in one pic, that's pretty awesome. You know, that gives me an idea....
Quoting El Barto !
So, uh, like, how did you do that?
It is actually 4 renders, and a background. The background (the spacedock interior) was taken from Celestia. POVRay reacted very badly to the amount of pieces in the Enterprise and Excelsior, so I needed to render both models separately. Since the models don't interact (cast lights or shadows on each other), this is okay. The shuttlecraft are not to scale, so I had to render them with the camera further away to make them appear "right".
