Casspir is a South-African-built APC designed for modern warfare in the African deserts. The battlefields there are plagued with land-mines and vehicle traps that make it difficult to move safely. The Casspir was designed with a unique V-shaped hull to deflect the explosion of a mine outward, protecting the passengers inside. This is my entry for two contests this month, one is for the usual LUGnuts contest, and the other is Bricks on Wheels' off-road building challenge. Please enjoy! I've crammed this with detail!
About this creation
Back view...outdoors...in a flower bed! Not a usual place to find a tank!
This vehicle has pendular-suspension courtesy of Apple Pie's trial truck design. The wheels flex and don't rub body panels, yet they don't spring back on their own. the weight of the vehicle centers the wheels after clearing an obstacle.
Front view. Aggresive looking, eh? Nah, just ugly!
Ditant view for added...drama! It's coming to get you!
Side view. Umm, I'm a bit low on grey bricks so please excuse the ugly color combo of old and new LEGO grey.
The rear hatches open like normal doors. Sorry, no crazy Lamborghini scissor-door action!
Front view again. I took a photo in my photo booth for better clarity of detail.
Driver's compartment. Sorry about the lack of real windows...that's kinda akward...
Another view of the interior. It has standard bench seats to haul soldiers into battle. Also these vehicles are commonly used as field ambulances.
Photo for reference. It appears that I made my LEGO one too short...
Excellent work! I like how you elevated the vehicle, but yet kept its design in perfect flow. Although, I feel there is something missing on the under-body...Other than that, I love it! I especially like the rear doors and the driver's area and how you incorporated the seat in the correct spot; the right side. Overall, awesome job! Oh, and sorry for sounding like a typical fan-boy; your work is just to awesome for me not to.
