WIP 3 - 1/10 1929 Bugatti Type 46
3rd progress report for the construction of the 1/10 1929 Bugatti. Today; the interior and rear end of the car have been done.
About this creation

UPDATE :

more WIP photos, but not enough to make another page. It currently looks like this, with very few, but needed, parts missing; mainly for the bonnet (that means 'hood' for you americans out there). I like the way the wings have come out :)

Hi,

Wow, a lot more done already (='no school today' lol) ...

Just to say, like the time I posted two build diaries for the 1/3 lambo within a day of each other; I think that after this one you'll have a little wait before the final post, as for the rest I'll need to get a bunch of parts as I don't everything I need to finish it at the moment.

So...

Today, I've been working on all of the rear end of the car, as well as the interior (basically, everything rear of what I did yesterday).
As you can see in the photos, I tried to add pedals, gear lever, steering wheel (slightly changed from the initial position made yesterday), and a couple of dials on the dash; wooden parts on the passenger side of the dashboard.
The seats were made from log bricks, to give the look of stitched leather; and most of the front seats are made from the walls of Fort Legoredo (lol... who'd have guessed they'd have such an alternative use?)
Afterwards, I carried on the curve of the roof down the back, doing my best to make the small curved split rear windscreen (which isn't too accurate, but that's the limitation of using lego... the split is supposed to be quite small, but I couldn't se a better way of doing it)
I also made an opening boot; and copied the best I could the rear bumper (which dosesn't actually look very effective... but hey, this car's from the 20's...)

The car's really starting to take shape nicely, I think; and all that's left to do are the wheel arches/wings , the bonnet (I know exactly how I'm going to make the bonnet, I just need to get some certain parts to do so), then do the final touches (i.e. replacing the temporary parts buy the final ones when I get them, and getting another two wheels, it looks a bit silly at the moment with two different types lol...)

Hope you like it !

Dan

P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stacey_love )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !

Quoting Dell Chase Its goin great, cant wait to see the final version!
Hi ! Nothing's happened for a while, as I was on holiday for a couple of weeks, and have been very busy since getting back (lego's good fun in my spare time, but doesn't have much of a priority in "real life"). Though I've gone back to it just this morning, and there really isn't much left to do (though some parts are still needed) so hopefulyl you should all see the finished version soon :) -Dan

Quoting Darcy Guerin Hanlon very good not that im any good at making cars but perhaps in your future models you could show us a picture of the real car for reference to see were you went wrong but as hard as it is you made a classic next try to make a Mercedes! 4/5 for me PS maybe add some technic minifigures the ones with bendy arms and legs.
Hi, and thanks for the comment ! I won't add technic dudes as they're completely the wrong scale, they'd look like 4 year old in this :) aqs for pics of the real car, they're on the first WIP of the bugatti, check it out ! Next car being a mercedes ? nice idea ... which one ? my favourites are the 30's 500K (and 540K) and the 90's model S500 ... Dan

Quoting Vinny Turbo Finally a real Bugatti. Nice job, keep the good work. Just 2 things I would try to make better : the tyres and the radiator that should be rounded on the top to have the typical horse-shoe shape. Chapeau, bon courage et a+.
Hi, well, I do agree with you, but those parts aren't easy to change... The wheels are the biggest lego make, and the nearest to the real car; and they only make 2 types of tires for them - of which this one looks nearest. As for the grill, I originally planned to use two 3x3 curved bricks (macaronis) to make the horsehose shape... After double checking on bricklink, I found out that they only make curved bricks in 2x2 and 4x4 ; and using either of them would have meant changing the entire scale of the car and having to change the rest... so I have to put up with agnled bricks :( If anybody has an idea, I'm interested ! Quoting Patrick "Packie" Chambers I love the interior so far! Can't wait for the fenders. Are those the wheels you are going to use? They look a bit larger than the real one. Still, great work so far. Peace - Packie
Yep, those're the real wheels I'll use... they're the nearest thing lego makes to what would be great; though checking the scale they are the right size for it ; tyhe car just has ig wheels...
