Destroyer USS Arleigh Burke
USS Arleigh Burke, DDG-51. My first try at an actual scale replica US Navy warship. Model is about 26 inches long, which is roughly 1:232 scale. I found at this small size that it is difficult to get detail correct, so much of it is approximate. Also had issues with color matching in some areas. Next model will be larger which should help to alleviate some of the issues with detail.

A tip that always helps me with any scale ship is to NOT look at the pictures until after you get scaling correct. Try looking for a website that lists the specifications of what your trying to build. (Ex. Lenth, beam, displacement) next look at some blueprints just to get the feel of the design and purpose. After you've determined the scale and decided how many studs and where their going, ONLY THEN do you look at pictures. This trick has helped me through more than 2 dozen warships ranging in scale from 50 studs to 1000. If you have any more Qs please ask. Good luck!

Quoting dj schwan actually now that i looked at her more, quite a few things are out of scale. the mast for one. Plus shes just a LIIIITLE bit higher out of the water then she should be. On an NJROTC field trip last year we spent a whole day on one of these beasts, and i can tell you dam near anything about it... or any US warship... or Any sailboat... Just fire away, im bored.
Yep, I don't disagree, the scale is a bit off. This was my first attempt at a scale LEGO warship, so I approximated the look. If I had time, I'd actually love to do a larger, better version. In particular I'd like to get the sloped sides of the hull and superstructure.
