The Harrier Jump Jet, often referred to as just "Harrier" or "the Jump Jet", is a British designed military jet aircraft capable of Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing (V/STOL) via thrust vectoring. The Harrier family is the only truly successful design of this type from the many that arose in the 1960s. The Harrier has become an aircraft icon and is seen as major milestone in aviation.
There are four main versions of the Harrier family: Hawker Siddeley Harrier, British Aerospace Sea Harrier, Boeing/BAE Systems AV-8B Harrier II, and BAE Systems/Boeing Harrier II. The Hawker Siddeley Harrier is the first generation version and is also known as the AV-8A Harrier. The Sea Harrier is a Maritime strike/air defence fighter. The AV-8B is the second generation Harrier and the BAE Harrier II is the British variant of the second generation Harrier.
I builded the Gr.3 because I always liked that long nose desing that was not on the Harrier 2. I belive it looks better, just that.
Very good,i also like this plane and actually built it out of legos too, but i took it apart before i was able to post it. Anyway great moc i especially love the way you did the jet intakes, very creative! Also i think you should make the back landing gear a little shorter because your harrier is tilting donwards and the real aircraft tilts upwards. Anyway great moc...oh and the Harrier GR.3 is also know as the Hawker Siddeley...Just in case you didnt know =) -----David
Hi my friend,
Your rendition of the Harrier is your best aircraft in my opinion! It´s so good looking, and its features are really hard to reconstruct in Legos, but you did an outstanding job! Love the slanting wings and the very clever and original use of those pieces for the intakes. Landing gear looks fantastic, too. My only suggestion: maybe use a cone piece for the nose (like the ones you used for the additional tanks)?! Even like that, it looks very convincing overall. My favorite plane of yours - thanks for sharing it with us! Best regards, Steffen
