Modular (not CC-standard) building in modern baroque style housing the local flower shop and a compact residence. Fully furnished.
About this creation
A month or so ago, Asya came up with the idea of building a florist for our future town layout. Thrilled by the idea, I made a Divco delivery truck, after which we started building our first ever modular, albeit non-CC-standard-compatible, town structure.
Note: More photos of this building will be added later on, revealing a better view of the interior (flower shop, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom). Make sure you check out those as well :)
The architectural style of the building is modern baroque, which will help fit in much easier amongst all the other structures from different architectural periods we have in mind. Despite that, the "baroque" element was kept as a more subtle note, since we did not want to end up with a structure that would be way too gaudy to house a flower shop. It is however featured in the baroque-ish name of the building, Fleurs des Loutres, which translated from French should sound something like Flowers of the Otters... (do correct me if I'm wrong please, I never did manage to quite master that language!)
Obviously, the structure is intended as a corner building, and in the future we are planning on adding to its sides and creating a little inner sort of courtyard area which will then be used for a gazebo or a small park - hence the arch and the narrow tunnel.
She sells seashells... not. She sells flowers actually. And both she and her colleague are mighty happy doing that! Joe the delivery boy is also more than happy to drive his restored trusty Divco delivery truck around, so I guess the foundations for a succesful business have indeed been laid.
Even though he's a charming young man, Joe is also a bit absent-minded. The mediocre (at best) top speed of his Divco is a perfect match to Joe's wits, but the girls always make sure he's safe. Despite that, today's new flower arrangement has obviously caught his attention and I can just hear Helen here callig after him, "Hey, Joe, careful with the stairs, you're carrying one of our best bouquets!"
It's early in the morning - the flower store has just opened for customers, Asi is busy attending to her flowers, Joe is starting on his first delivery course for the day, the mailman is halfway done with the morning mail... And a sigfig who bears some uncanny resemblance to yours truly here has finally decided it's time to rise and shine. His girlfriend is already making sure that the flowers are looking fine and healthy, and I guess you can tell she's also taken care of the household... Dishes are washed and the laundry is done. Bliss!
The building is 100% furnished, however I am not quite satisfied with the quality of the interior photos that I've managed to take so far. I'm planning on shooting some more and then I'll post a few pics of the interior. For now, let me just tell you that the house itself consists of a bathroom, kitchen + dining corner + bedroom. Nothing too grand really, but then again it's all you need really :]
Oh, and I'll also do a close-up shot of the mailman with his mail delivery bike. It might be a bit weird that flowers are to be delivered using a minitruck in our town, whereas mail is delivered using a bike, but what can you do... we're environmental-friendly... well sort of. In any case, I think the mailman is perfectly happy with his bike for now.
That's the last floor of the building, where the croissant-eating minifig and his girl (the one attending to the flowers) have their bedroom. They've only moved in recently, but they have already bought a nice hi-fi and a big bed. On a nice clear summer night, they both love lying on their bed with the window opened and gazing at the sky... Hoping that their cat won't jump out to enjoy the local sights :)

inspirational! very nice!
ok! fleur du loutre is nt correct,
it s either fleur des loutres or fleur de la loutre!
just so you know,a loutre is an animal!
i don t remember the correct english name but,
it is close to a beaver!
so it would sound like, flower of beavers!
as for others... it s really, autres..
so,flowers of others, would write like this,
fleurs des autres!
love your building - truck kit!

I like this very much. I'm town oriented anyway and when I saw your name while browsing, decided to see what you had along those lines. Viewing the building was very enjoyable, but I really like that Divco!!! A friend of mine had one back in the 1970's that he had converted into his home. Anyway, I'm adding you to my favorite builders. |

Once again, thanks a lot guys.
Now, for some news: We've finally bought two of the official Modular sets and we were definitely awestruck. In order to make the Flower Shop fit in nicely among those, we are planning on reconstructing it and adding a bit more detail (and height!) to the building... Stay tuned :) |

Erm, it says right there in the description... not CC-compatible = nope, not Cafe Corner compatible. We don't even own that set or the Green Grocer, so CC compatibility was never on the cards anyway :) |

We're also very happy with the way this one turned out. Out of all the buildings we've built, this one is our best attempt by far, but it is only our first attempt at "serious" modular-style building, so expect to see more... :] |
