A minifig scale cake topper, created for the builder's wedding.
About this creation

While we were planning our wedding, my wife and I decided that it would be fun to have some LEGO figures on our cake (I'm the big AFOL, not my wife). Later on it expanded to the invitations and the program as well.

I wanted something a little more interesting then just a pair of figures, so I decided to create a small gazebo. I figured minifig scale would be good, and started working from there. I played around with a couple different column ideas and roof structures. The half dome was planned out in Maya using a bit of custom software. The hardest part was finding all the white parts I wanted, and making sure they weren't too yellowed. My wife had dark red roses for her bouquet, so the red flowers were on obvious choice. The groom's torso is actually an old ship captain, were the gold anchor has faded to the point of being nearly invisible.

The bride and groom for the invitations were made by importing LDraw models into Maya and doing a ton of cleanup (about 40+ hours of work on my part). I did tweak the color of the bride to be more of a cream so that it would show up when printed on a white background.

My wife and I cutting the cake. I just skimmed through our photo collection and used the first one I found. The cake is much larger, as the picture only shows the top tier.

I reused the Maya models to make a Christmas card for my wife for our first Christmas together.

For the invitation, I rendered the bride and groom separately at 300 dpi for printing.

Thanks. Yes I did save it. My wife displays it proudly in our living room. We've moved a couple times but it has survived those and a few earthquakes with only minor repairs.
