Did I mention that Andrew B is awesome?
About this creation
I’ve built cars. I’ve attempted mechs. I've made custom minifigs. I’ve succeeded somewhat with Post-Apoc. I’ve even built Halo! In the past I have done well with Star Wars, and for a while there was building World War II. I’ve jumped on bandwagons as they went past, creating Cyborg Racers, cave racers, a MOCtag entry, and even a VV or two. The classic theme of Science Fiction is always fun, and when I ‘space’ out on that, I love a good microscale creation.
So many different themes and building styles have crossed my path over the few years I’ve been truly serious about building Lego, but there is nothing that pleases me more…than to build Castle.
Good ol' castle. =)

This creation has been sitting in the back of my mind since I destroyed Luseville, but I never thought I had the pieces. Turns out I didn't, but I was able to compromise with sizes and a change of pieces to mold it into what you see now.

As you might have gathered from my comments in different groups, this is my "large" entry for the Sig-Figgy Abusers Club Darwin Awards Contest. Continuing from my second entry, Kelso has a time machine!! I know the storyline isn't very long, but here it is. Please focus on the build surrounding Kelso and his evil creation. That's what I worked the most on for the contest.

So enjoy my entry. All of it. =)

----------------------------------------
It was a quiet day at Château de Caprèshèr...

...until Kelso and his time machine arrived.
Kelso: "Hey, what's that black pointy thing coming up through the floor?"

*the doors open*
Kelso: "I mean, I almost lost my...Hey look, Heather! It worked! IT WORKED!! I'm a genius!!"
Heather: "You are? That's a new one..."

Guard: "Oh the wheel in the dungeon goes round and round, round and round, round and round..."

Kelso: "Alrighty, let's see if I can get, um, oh no! I'm falling!"

Heather: "NOOOOOOOOO!! Wait, what? Starbucks? Where?!?"

Guard: "Tell me again how that THING got past my hand?"
---------------------------------------------

Yeah...I know it's not as long or animated as my first entry, but as I will repeat until the end of my days, please judge me on the actual creation as well as the death of SigKelso Figgy. That's what this contest is for, right? Lego! Well, I mean, it's so that we can get away with killing master builders, but other than that...

Seen in the picture above are Kevin Fedd's wonderful little pine trees. So loads of thanks goes out to him for allowing me to use the design. I really wanted to use them because here in Washington State, pine trees like Kevin's are quite common in swampy areas like the one depicted in this MOC.

I did add some things of my own design though, in the shape of cat-tails and a birds nest. And no, I didn't design the duck...

Irony of ironies that today when I post it the sun is out and my whole house is flooded with wonderful sunlight that is absolutely perfect for taking pictures unlike when I actually took the pictures. *takes deep breath* Curse you Convergence Zone!!

One thing that really bugged me is the fact that it was really windy when I took the main picture, so I wasn't able to have the cattails on the dio. Curse you Convergence Zone!! Wait, did I already say that?

So yeah, the picture below is an embarrassingly good example of poor quality lighting. It's like, blue.

Anyhoo...

Well folks, that all for now! I'm sorry for the lack of detail shots; just blame it on the Convergence Zone. And cloudy Washington. Both, really.

Wow! This is great, I'll start off with what caught my eye first, the roof. It looks great! I also love the bridge you have there. The water just looks great, in the main picture. The cattails are a nice touch, I liked that very much. Besides that the pine trees and the tree with the bird's nest is very good. I also like the pathway that leads to the castle. what I liked most of all, was the fisherman. Of course, it was funny with the two alligators chasing a fisherman, but I also liked that you added that detail. This has inspired me, like all of your castles do. Again, great job! |

Alrighty then, JD. Back for a second look here. Again, beautiful work on the castle itself. A little weak on the storyline, though, compared to your others. I think your first entry was a good combo of build, story, and presentation. This definitely is your finest entry as far as the build itself, however. Nicely done there. |

This is really awesome, I love the way it looks with the two towers, one in the pond connected with a bridge, The is superb, and the time machine appearing on the roof and Kelso stepping out and falling onto the guards spear is genious! Great work! I've expanded Blocktropolis, its right here if you want to check it out: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/111975. -T |

By the way, what pieces are those frogs?
Didn't you get one in the castle village? Ah well, here's a link: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=frog You can get them in trans-green, just plain green, or bley. Pretty cool.

Great! Some nice building techneques in there. One part bothers me though, the walkway. Maybe it should be dirt or something? I don't have much experience with castle but that walk seems out of place. (Love that tower) |

Out of fairness to the other participants of the DA contest, I'll have to reserve judgement on it's contestish-ly-ness, but I had to comment on the build itself. GREAT work on the composition (i.e. forms, visual balance, color balance, etc.). Some nice parts usage, too. Your castle work continues to improve and impress. |

It's MOCs like these that make me regret my period of inactivity here on MOCpages. I've almost forgotten how creative some people can truly be! I love the castle itself, of course, and your genius bird nest idea, but your hilarious description really "tops the icing on the cake," so to speak. |
|
|
Pros: The fortress, cobblestone path, bird's nest, and the time machine. Cons: The riverbank should have a little bit of mud on the edges and I don't know what car you're talking about. :P Very nice overall. |

I like the pathway to the front door and the big tree, and nice piece use for the bird's nest -- pretty ingenious there. The underside of the bridge part seems weird to me, though, those arches don't go anywhere. I think most of the pics turned out pretty well, at least I don't see any hail damage. At my place we had some heavy hailstorms yesterday. That would have been fun trying to take Lego pics in. |

Nice one, great scenery, great details, and great commentary, great story, or in other words, it is all great. Reminds me of Lord of the rings where someone gets thrown off the side of the castle into an army of spears down a below. Gonna be hard to top this one, *laughs within self* -Dylan |
