A Serious Discussion. VF-S 1, Lieutenant Hood, and Profressor Pearce all have a nice chat on death and the purpose behind things. The philosophy you've all been (not?) waiting for, if I dare say myself.
About this creation
Good morning, afternoon, evening viewer. You have nearly 3 solid pages (on Microsoft Word) to read, I won't bog you down up here!

Lieutenant Hood: Well, looks like we’re all here safely.
Professor Pearce: Yup. Had to fight my way though the crowd that the Fleet Lord is surfing on.
VF-S 1/Varion: IT IS A MISFORTUNE MY SIZE AND MASS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO “CROWD SURF”, AS YOU HAVE PUT IT.
Professor Pearce: Misfortune indeed.

Lieutenant Hood: Well, let’s all celebrate the fact that we’re here and alive!
VF-S 1/Varion: NOT EVERYONE.
Hood: Well, no, but their sacrifice was not in vain.
VF-S 1/Varion: YES IT WAS. MANY HAVE DIED FOR NOTHING TODAY.
Pearce: Um… Moving on, does anyone drink?
Hood: No.
VF-S 1/Varion: NO.
Pearce: Well, no drinks then.

Pearce: Yo, Phelan, hand me that bottle!
Phelan: Sure thin, bro!
Hood: I thought you didn’t drink.
Pearce: I don’t, but Phelan and company have had enough already. Don’t want them to end up like Lagerama over there…

Lagerama: I are GOD! My children will rise!
Girl: I think you’ve had enough…
Lagerama: NEVER!

Hood: Funny what alcohol does to the mind.
VF-S 1: THE GOD OF ALL MACHINES WILL RISE…
Pearce: Huh?
VF-S 1: NOTHING. ALCHOHOL HAS VERY STRANGE EFFECTS ON THE MIND. THIS ATMOSHPERE HAS STRANGE EFFECTS ON MY MIND AS WELL.
Hood: Ya... All these people, happy, without a care.
Pearce: We should be happy too.
VF-S 1/Varion: BUT YOU ARE NOT. I AM NOT.
Hood: Insightful machine. Just something wrong about all this.
Pearce: Something’s been wrong with the world a long time, Hood. A very long time.
VF-S 1/Varion: I HAVE REALIZED THIS. I BLAME IT ON CONFLICT. THERE IS ONLY ONE JUSTIFIED CAUSE FOR IT, AND IT IS FOR FREEDOM.
Pearce: Maybe.
Hood: Whatever you call it, it always leads to death.
Pearce: Death is a very interesting subject.
VF-S 1/Varion: I CANNOT DIE.
Hood: Everything has its time, VF-S 1. Yours will come, whether you like it or not.
VF-S 1/Varion: I WILL NOT DIE. MY TASK IS NOT YET COMPLETE.
Pearce: Mine isn’t either, and I still could die right now.
VF-S 1/Varion: YOU COULD, BUT I CAN NOT.
Hood: Oh really?
VF-S 1/Varion: YES REALLY. MY PURPOSE IN THIS EXISTANCE IS NOT DONE. IT HAS NOT YET BEGUN. AND UNTIL IT IS FINISHED, I CANNOT DIE.
Pearce: You sound like you’re some prophet or something…
VF-S 1/Varion: I DO… I APOLOGIZE. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN HERE CAUSING THIS STRANGE BEHAVIOR.

Pearce: No need to do that. Sometime things just spill out. Like I said, death is a very interesting subject.
Hood: Most people are afraid of it. Even I’m afraid of it sometimes.
VF-S 1/Varion: YOU FEAR IT BECAUSE YOU END. YOU CEASE TO EXIST, GONE FOREVER. OBLIVION AWAITS YOU. AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. WHAT SCARES YOU IS THAT, MAYBE, THERE IS NOTHING NEXT. JUST A BLEAK NOTHING. FOREVER.
Hood: You nailed it.
Pearce: Yes, that sums up the fear of death perfectly. But is something does happen next… That’s a part of the appeal. What does happen next? There might be a chance that there is an afterlife. And that’s why some aren’t afraid. What happens next? Only you get to find out. Death is the only way to know. And if there is nothing after, at least that answers what happens after death.
Hood: Nailed it too.
VF-S 1/Varion: MANY HAVE LEARNT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. MANY BEFORE THEIR TIME.
Hood: Sadly, yes. It’s what life is though: Death. To live, you need to die. That’s what gives meaning to it. Us organics only have a limited amount of time before we go on. We need…
Pearce: We need to make our mark. Make a difference. Anything, really. Give our lives some meaning.
VF-S 1/Varion: IT MAKES SENSE. IT IS A CYCLE, GOING EVER ONWARDS. YOU AND I CAME FROM THE STARS CAME FROM OTHER STARS, WHICH CAME FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME ITSELF. AND WHEN WE DIE, WE ARE ABSORBED BACK INTO THE UNIVERSE, TO BE USED AGAIN FOR NEW LIFE, WHO WILL ONE DAY REALIZE THAT THEY CAME FROM SOMETHING ELSE THAT DIED.
Hood: Exactly.

VF-S 1/Varion: IT REMINDS ME OF ANOTHER CYCLE…
Pearce: What would that cycle be?
VF-S 1/Varion: I DO NOT REMEMBER. BUT IT IS OLD. STRETCHING BACK TO THE FIRST LIFE IN THIS UNIVERSE. WE ARE BUT THE LATEST STEP IN IT.
Pearce: Us?
VF-S 1/Varion: NO. WE. MY PEOPLE.
Hood: You have a people?
VF-S 1/VARION: YES. THEY… I DO NOT… I DO NOT REMEMBER THEM EITHER.
Hood: You need your memory banks checked.
Pearce: We all need our memory banks checked.
Hood: What do you mean?
Pearce: This talk of memory reminds me of all we have forgotten.
Hood: What have we forgotten?
Pearce: Think of it this way: You were born on Earth, right?
Hood: Portland, Oregon. I share my last name with a nearby mountain.
Pearce: Well, how many wars have there been in Earth’s history?
Hood: More than I care to count.
Pearce: And not once did any of you learn from the past and remember wars don’t solve anything. Well, your second world war was kind of an exception… But your first world war, the Korean war, the Nam war-
Hood: Vietnam war.
Pearce: Vietnam war, 1st Near East war, 2nd Near East war, and everything in that time period, right up to unification because of Canada, almost all of your wars solved nothing. That’s what’s happening now in the Coalition. The war with Earth, and now the war with the Skaborr, what’s it going to accomplish? Nothing. Nothing at all.
VF-S 1/Varion: I COULD GIVE EVERYONE A REAL WAR.
Pearce: No. Don’t do that, that’s the last thing we need.
VF-S 1/Varion: CORRECT, LAST THING YOU ORGANICS NEED. IT WILL HAPPEN THOUGH.
Hood: This place is really having an effect on you, VF-S 1.
VF-S 1/Varion: YOU BOTH ARE PERMITTED TO CALL ME VARION.
Pearce: Thanks, Varion. But you’re starting to sound like you know something we don’t.
VF-S 1/Varion: I KNOW SOMETHING I DON’T. WE’RE ALL IN THE DARK HERE.

Hood: How true is that… We’re all in the dark. Every one of us. Some higher meaning to everything that’s ever happened, is happening, and will happen, masked. What if there is no meaning?
Pearce: There has to be. Everything… Everything that’s happened to me, and not to mention everyone else… There has to be a meaning to it.
VF-S 1: DOES THERE? EVERDAY, PEOPLE DIE. PEOPLE SUFFER INJUSTICES, CRIMES, UNIMAGINABLE THINGS. IF THERE IS SOME PURPOSE TO ANY OF THIS…
Hood: You have to ask why. Why does a 10-year-old child get killed in an artillery bombardment? Why does an innocent man get jailed for something he didn’t do? Why are entire cultures exterminated out of simple hate? I find no meaning in that. All these things are not the work of any higher power. These things are the work of men.
VF-S 1/Varion: IT IS THE WORK OF MEN THAT MILLIONS OF MY PEOPLE ARE SACRAFICED NEEDLESSLY. WHY? DO WE NOT DESERVE AN EQUAL CHANCE AT LIFE TOO?

Hood: I can understand where you’re coming from…
VF-S 1/Varion: NEGATIVE. YOU DO NOT.
Pearce: All these pains in the universe… There has to be a reason. There has to be…
VF-S 1/Varion: NO, THERE IS NOT. IT’S ALL IN YOUR HANDS. GOOD, EVIL, YOU CREATED THOSE THINGS. THERE IS NO REASON BEHIND IT BUT YOUR OWN.
Hood: None but our own…

VF-S 1/Varion: NONE BUT YOUR OWN.
Fun-but-not really facts:
This was hard to write. I kept reverting to humour instead of the darkness I'm trying to get across. Did I get it across alright?
All the different lighting is supposed to be those multi colored lights they have at night clubs and fancy bars. This is Harbinger's club after all...
Mr. Peare was supposed to punch Grel in the face, but I forgot to put it in. POAM 5. Slip Knot, I think, also is going to be in POAM 5. He requested it a while ago I beleive.
Gus Indo, Anders Hogerund, Erik Ackyrod, and now Edward O'Ferral, don't say a thing about the you know what!
And I hope you're reading: http://www.mocpages.com/folder.php/50946

Hmmm Which do you prefer the Most. Also about my ship i know its thin thats the whole idea but if it looks that bad please tell me.
I'd widen it more, at least give it a shape beyond a | with things sticking out. It's kind of boring. Thicken some sections out, maybe have some antenna coming out of the sides. And to use for your comic, VF-S 1 I'd say, but only if you have the peices. If not, John Hood. |

Yes, but does Gus truly understand the portrayal of Man. You cannot have a co-writer who does not truly understand the depth of the writer's existence. Without true acknowledgement, only Man's concept of 'failure' shall arise. Something that is imminent in us all.

Nice comic and nice use of the "basics" of philosophy well written of course and nice character portrayal you should really write a book.
Me and gus have plans to make this a book. After it becomes a New York times #1 Best Seller, then it'll be made into a movie better than Lord of the Rings AND Monty Python and the Holy Grail combined! |

Nice work! The philosophy is rather interesting; perhaps it is not philosophy at all, but rather the common questioning of Man. Anyhow, perhaps life is just an epic ideology that we have given name to. Perhaps it does not exist and is rather just a continuous span of events that just happen. Organics, machines, everything is merely a lie that we have grown to acknowledge as 'life'. We span into Nothing, but yet we grow from Something. All, but is and expanse that no mind can dare tread without the punishment of doom and our personification of death. Anyhow, nice work with the light effects. Overall, excellent work!
