TIE Fighter - alternate
An alternate version of the well-known TIE fighter. This was done for one of Darkkasmo's Alternate contests on FBTB.
About this creation
This is one of my favorite designs, but unfortunately it is also the most fragile. The initial idea stemmed from the large flags I used for the 'wings'. It also has a very... open design (definately not air-tight), but if you don't have the imagination to overcome that you shouldn't be here. :)

I kept my color scheme simple on this one. Black predominates, of course, but if I had to use grey I tried hard to use the new light bley color.

Trans-neon-green was used very sparingly, so that it (hopefully) stands out more. It's always been a favorite color of mine, but I don't want to abuse it.

There is hardly any studs-up construction in this moc.

In fact, the only studs-up part is where the pilot is sitting. The seat is actually suspended from the sides.

The cock-pit window actually has to be taken off to show the inside like this. In fact, the pilot cannot be removed at all without taking the ship apart!

When the wings are attached correctly (bump them a little bit and it goes ka-blooie) the ship is very stable when set down at any angle.
With the use of small panels, each wing can only be tilted inwards at a slight angle, giving it a nice curved effect.

I love the design, but as a die-hard Star Wars fan, I frown on the air openings, but than again, the pilots do wear air tanks and vacume sutes so overall u get an A.

Brilliant! The overall use of SNOT (Studs Not On Top) makes it one of a kind!

This is very fragile as I can see, but I just can't get over the fact of all the air openings are.
