E.O.S. RE-X Predator Class Prototype
I built this in one night on 4-30-09 When the E.O.S. first began its campaign against the U.N.E. and C.O.P. it found itself engaged in many ground offensives. In order to maintain their military superiority, Empire military leadership recognized the need to fund new ground vehicle development. Much of this funding and research was directed at mainline tank and mech units, however consideration was also given to the support vehicles that would be needed to occupy the many U.N.E. and C.O.P. colonies and urban areas. One of the most important of these new designs was the RE-X Class Mech, code named Predator. E.O.S. military brass asked for a medium mech with an intimidating design that would excel in ant infantry and anti light vehicle work as well as crowd control of unruly mobs. What they got was a fearsome weapon platform indeed. Based off ancient earth reptiles the Predator is an astonishing weapon of terror. With heavy armor and near perfect balance thanks to its “tail” appendage, the RE-X presents an almost unstoppable threat to insurgents, “freedom fighters” and local police forces. The RE-X comes standard with two grenade launchers and two light laser cannons. The vehicles massive “jaws” can crush most civilian craft, not to mention civilians in a single bite. The front appendages have fence cutters and the “legs” provide yet another offensive option. A variety of other weapon packages are in the late stages of development. These heavy weapons are mounted on the back of the mech like a saddle. Upgrades include missile and rocket launcher packages as well as anti tank heavy lasers and mortars. These upgrades make the RE-X capable of main line combat. When eqipped with a T-A upgrade the RE-X can also be used as a transport for up to 16 E.O.S. troops and gains an anti air double light laser cannon.
About this creation
This Predator is equipped with the MM-IV Missile and rocket package. The whole weapon system rotates 360 degrees.

A top view of the RE-X.

This Predator is equipped with an APC saddle, providing a secure transport base as well as two powerful light AA laser cannons.

Another view of the saddle prototype.

A ground level view of the massive vehicle.

The “arms” provide a mount for the Predators standard light weaponry.

The RE-X stands over 16 meters tall.

This MOC’s legs fully articulate, so I had to use some white pieces to hold it up for the photos.

The front view presents a tall, but narrow profile, this is useful when attacking light vehicles.

The powerful drive system can propel the RE-X to speeds of up to 100 KPH.

This 3/4 view shows the overall shape of the vehicle.

This view shows the fearsome JAW-II weapon system. The last thing many U.N.E. and C.O.P. civilians ever see.

The massive “tail” provides balance and stores the redundant power cell system.

This elevation view shows the size of a standard RE-X Predator next to a standard 2 meter human.

The cockpit is located in the head and holds the main computer, pilot and JAW-II weapon system.

Ah, yes; the EOS days of old. The description was a mouthful to read, but the MOC is nice! Good work on the resemblance to a Velociraptor/T-rex. 4/5!

9 year old boyhood fantasies rushing back, AAARGH! Very cool. Only think I don't like is how you did the jaw joint. With as much detail and trouble as you went to with the legs and tail, it would look better if you tried to make it look more like an actual jaw bone instead of just sticking a hinge brick in there. Small complaint, still awesome. I miss Dino Riders :(

Quoting Clone 2224 WOW! Awesome. Just like the ZOIDS dino-mecha toys from Japan. (from TOMY I think) The anatomy of the T-Rex (be it a mecha) is right-on I think. You must be into palaentology too. Truly amazing. If you want to make it so it will balance on it's own I think you can probably do it by slightly shortening the neck and arms + put some more weight on the tail by thickening it; though I have to try making it myself first to see if it works. Anyway: GREAT! You should do some more creation on this dino-mecha theme.
Thanks, the balance problem wasnt really one of weight, but because I chose to make the legs articulate.

I ain't much of one for mechs, but this one has really grabbed my attention. First of all, it reminds me of a toy line from the 80s, the name of which I cannot remember at all, but it had dinosaur mechs with little pilots in them. That aside, I still find this mech to be original, refreshing, and deserving of high praise because you have done a great job of building a robotic dinosaur. I love the head, the little forearms, the perfect position of the pilot station, the tail... oh heck, I love alot about this mech. And to then picture this mech on a space age battlefield is just out there, way out there, I can picture this thing jumping up on top of a Halo-like scorpion tank, digging its claws into the metal, then using those jaws to chomp the cannon and rip it off.

A tank is a vehicle with a swiveling gun. Normally would be tread, but hover is fine. A mecha tank is even better! I think it should be legit'. You could get by if you switched those legs out for some tracks! Really cool concept though. Hats off to you!
