NCSH-OWA-HDS-V "One Winged Angel"
A new CMC entry, in the [full size], [space] categories. A CFS repair hardsuit used for heavy lifting, welding and other tasks in space.
About this creation
I was high on three kinds of quasi-legal drugs while making this: squieu, David Rabadan, and the notorious Izmojuki. I highly recommend all three.

The NCSH-OWA-HDS-V "One Winged Angel" (Non-Combative Support Hardsuit, Omnidirectional Welding Apparatus equipped, Heavy Duty Space Variant) is a heavily armored hardsuit designed for out-of-atmosphere industrial applications. It uses it's large maneuvering assembly to position itself for whatever tasks need to be done.

The name comes partly from the massive welding rig, which when folded looks like a single wing. The term was coined by fighter pilots who's vessels were highly, but not irreparably, damaged. As they drifted through space, lost and helpless, they saw the mech coming towards them, a messenger of hope. Some even say it is the most beautiful thing they have ever seen. The fear and release of certain death, followed by that sudden flare of hope it caused led to the mech's nickname amongst such crews, the "Graceless Angel", which was later altered to make it sound more dignified.

Weaponry:
N/A

Equipment:
1x O-UHL-PCAWR- Oversized Ultra-High-Latency Plasma Combination Airless Welding Rig, which is the mech's primary method of repairing spacecraft and other spaceborne objects. This welder uses plasma heat for binding materials, thus needing no oxygen to function.

Statistics:
Max Groundspeed: N/A
Max Airspeed, in atmosphere: N/A
Max Airspeed, in space: 750k/ph
Boosting Velocity: N/A
Terminal Boost Velocity: N/A
Fuel: 46 hours continuous operation

Quoting Dali Zheng Have you seen Paul Lee's CMC hardsuit? http://www.flickr.com/photos/artpoly/3495128722/ I predict this will win land manned. He's the builder whose MOCs I've based my "Myrmidon" off of.
I hadn't until you posted the link here. I'll agree that that is likely to win. So, there are at least a couple hardsuits entered. Again, good luck in your category, yours seems the best of the (what, two?) entries there, unless Jerac's junkbot is land, not air.

Quoting Dali Zheng Toby, a lot of great entries were posted on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/mechahub/discuss/72157615181025820/ You have some pretty insane competition in the space manned category. Some of the land manned entries were amazing as well, and I don't think my boom loader mech stands a chance. However, I think I may stand a good chance at winning land unmanned.
No, I mean a hardsuit itself. I've seen the Flickr entries, but I haven't seen many hardsuits. Many incredible designs far beating my own (honestly) have been posted, I just don't see why hardsuits aren't that popular. In particular, I like Adrian Florea's design, I think that it has a lot of potential. I'm not expecting to win, and I'm certainly not trying to sound as such. But, good luck in your category!

Quoting Dali Zheng BTW, do you think I can win in the land unmanned category?
Oh, quite probably. Your mecha is amazingly cool, and executed well. What I'm wondering, though, is why hardsuits seem unpopular. As far as I know, I'm the only contestant to enter one in the CMC. Just something random I noticed...

Hey Toby, I changed the arms on my CMC mecha. I noticed right away when I posted them online so I changed them immediately.

Quoting Dali Zheng I have an unmanned land mecha in mind for the civilian mecha contest, which will be a build that I will actually put effort into, unlike my boom loader. I'm going to disassemble the Venus Savage since it doesn't fit the Venus theme too well, the boom loader because it's not my best work, and possibly the Myrmidon just for parts. My favourites still are the Venus Shrike and Venus Gospel.
Oh, I like the Savage. Also, your boom loader is awesome, even if you put no real effort into it. BTW, I just finished my Zoomer, which you probably don't care about, but I'll post it today, hopefully. And, the Gospel=WIN.

Quoting Knoll grey ANOTHER great piece, you can't make something that isn't amazing.
Well thank you, but this is a little more praise than I'm comfortable with receiving. I really like the sentiment, but I don't feel deserving of that kind of compliment. Thanks very much, though.

Great one! Can you help me with some ideas for a CMC Mech? Here's the new thread for discussing it: http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=2493&topicid=11660

Quoting Phong Chang LOL! Mecha Sephiroth! I should make Cloud.
Yeah, but this one doesn't have to compensa-- I mean, doesn't have a katana..yeah... But, you should make Cloud, I think you'd do a good job at it. I'm planning a few characters from various sources to mech scale.

Quoting Rags naRock I have to say it's really fragile looking, though you definitely used the pieces as creatively as you could. I like the overall idea and design, but I agree the pilot looks a little exposed.
This thing is UNBELIEVABLY fragile. It took longer to put it together on the stand (which looks MUCH nicer than my last one, methinks) than it did to make it in the first place. Anyways, thanks Rags!

Quoting Dali Zheng Nice civilian mech! I like how you made this in your own theme. Great parts usage, too. You always find ways to use unorthodox parts into your creations and make it look good. Maybe I'll build a Venus themed mech.
Isn't a lot of your stuff Venus themed? Or did you mean a Venus themed CMC entry? Or did you mean a CFS themed mech? I'm confused. Yeah, I'm really happy with this one, I think it holds to the spirit of the contest much better than a race mech does, and I LOVE the way the front of the hardsuit turned out. I may have to do one in gray now, as a military model... Anyways, thanks!

All compliments to the composer of FFVII's score, Nobou Uematsu. Not my name idea, but it fits too well.

Quoting Nathan Jones Interesting shapes! My two criticisms aren't really related to the build, so much. First, there is no maximum speed in space, so saying that it has a max "air" speed in space is incorrect. 2nd, for a space suit, the pilot is pretty exposed :) You definitely have your own style.
Whatever, you know what I mean. I'd say sublight speed, but that would confuse people. the pilot, well, I noticed that too. It's really hard to make solid-looking hardsuits, though, so...yeah...Thanks!
