CT8A-29/B Maintenance Mech
About this creation
This is the result of me actually trying to build something good for the Civilian Mecha Contest at Mecha Hub. It's an unmanned ground repair and maintenance mecha used for general mechanical maintenance.

This MOC is highly influenced by the artwork of Junji Okubo.

I may or may not make a combat variant of this, who knows.

I put a lot of effort into making it look like it has hydraulics attached to the legs.

Its upper body can sway left and right, bob up and down, and turn 360 degrees.

Marvellous job with this piece! Looks perrr-fect! I wonder if it's inappropriate to ask instructions for this one? I can pay :) (miikahuttunen@gmail.com)

I'm about to post the Salvation!!!!! It's much more Phonged-out. It's also got 2 eyes inside the visor instead of just a transparent visor. It also has improved lower legs and improved shoulders. I slightly, but unoticably tweaked the torso by making it go in one stud so the chest is not so big.

Quoting Commander Faelo of the 321st legion Love the mech. All of yours are awesome. Quick question, I read you don't like most Star wars MOCs. Well, do you at least like the movies? If not, oh well. I think they're great! Especially the old ones. Also, have you seen the new Star Trek? It's wicked awesome!
The original episodes IV-VI Star Wars movies were great. I just don't like most Star Wars MOCs because it's a fad among younger builders.

Quoting Phong Chang Dali, exactly what camera do you use? Mine is a Canon Powershot A460. Do you think I need a better camera? The lense on mine is a lot smaller than yours, because your pics come out much bigger.
I'm using an Olympus C-3000Z. It's an ancient digital camera with a huge lens, but it's still very good. I think you just need to learn how to tweak your camera settings manually like I did with mine.

I STILL think this thing is EPIC, BTW. But, I'm now done with an MOC apparently inspired by this-- it's an unmanned minifig scale tripedal work mecha, influenced by Izmojuki as well. So, it looks like you have some competition in this category, if you don't mind, that is. Congrats on TBB Dali, you deserve it for this.

Quoting Giovanni Seynhaeve And to think I almost missed this exquisite creation! it has a crab like look to it, but I really can't say why. good thinking on the legs. only thing I would add is an antenna; since it's unmanned it's gotta be radiocontrolled? and maybe some controls, but I'm not sure what scale this is meant to be...
It's an unmanned minifig scale MOC. I should have put a minifig next to it for comparison. I think antennas are too old school for a mecha like this.

Quoting Sterling Knight So Dali, word on the street says you got in an arguement with Fed. I'ts happened to me about three times now. I don't even wan't to comment on his stuff anymore! I try to give him advice through critisism, but if I give him a 3 out of 5 and give perfect explaination then he explodes! It even seems that he deleted your first comment because of what you said. Just stay away from him, he gets WAY too much credit for every single one of his mocs than he deserves. Just a fair to good full of himself moccer. ~S.K.
Yeah, I don't think he deserves the popularity he gets. But think about the kid demographic of MOCpages, they're mostly children ages 10-15 and Halo/Clone Wars fans. Even though his building skill isn't on par with his popularity, he appeals to the interest of the audience here who are mostly young children.

Quoting Rob Deavers That is one sweet looking mech! You would think that there would be more of these types around, but I guess not.
Haha, everyone seems to be making mecha with lots of big guns. It is far more challenging and also far less appealing to the MOCpages audience to make a mecha that serves peaceful purposes.

Quoting Toby Heinemann Nice, you made the arms move. I still think more articulation would be nice, but how it is now looks better than it would otherwise and has good functionality. Again, good work. The legs on this are excellent, BTW.
Thanks, each leg assembly took 36 pieces, and I think they're some of the best mecha legs I've built yet. I can't think of any better way to attach the arms right now, but I have improved the back thanks to Steef's suggestion.

Quoting Steef de Prouw Nice. Those legs work just great, and the body is nice and, well, square. I like it that his body can move all around. I have a feeling his backside isn't finished though.
I changed it again, thanks to your criticism. Now the back looks more complete.

Wow, thanks for all the fast comments! I changed the maintenance arms accordingly, they are now posable. To Andreas: this was intentionally blocky. I felt that not many builders could effectively build a blocky MOC and it is rarely done intentionally so I wanted to go against the trend.

Reminds of a tachikoma.....except its all blocky. So maybe an early model?

I see the Izmojuki in you! This is, quite frankly, awesome. The blockiness is excellent, and a good departure from your normal style, and the two accent stripes really bring it into better detail. The vent strips, also, were a good idea. The only constructive criticism I can give is that I'd build it with the Rabadan-style movable front manipulators, but that may just be me. It'd be better if you could pose the arms in front, IMO. Anyways, truly great work here, now I'm really gonna lose ; )!
