About this creation

I will admit, my first skyscrapers were mediocre. Not that they were awful, they were just overly basic. So I tore down my tan skyscraper, still available for viewing under Sully Bradivan Tower, and made this one. I actually think it almost approaches the level of being fairly aesthetically pleasing.

As for the style of the skyscraper, my best guess would be art deco, though I am not sure. The setbacks and small details to top of the building near the sand green roof suggest this, but I am just beginning to learn about architectural styles so again I can't be sure. Maybe someone (Jim Garret?) can clarify it for me :P.

The skyscraper approaches its highest level of aesthetic beauty from this angle, I think.

Looking up at the other side, that's a little satellite dish if you were wondering, I put it on cause it seems to break up the flatness of the facade (not nearly enough pieces to try half stud offsets yet :P). Plus it doubles as a great way to watch the entire 09' NBA playoffs!

In retrospect, I might go ahead and order some more sand green pieces, particularly sloping ones and some tiles and 1 x 1's for detailing, and redo the sand green part of the roof. I had always intended this but I made the current roof with what I had, just so it would be picture worthy, and it didn't come out awful so now I am still undecided on its future.

And one more. Hey if I've held your attention this long, why not take another second and leave a comment and rating? There much appreciated, and I always try to return the favor.

Nick, this really is a beautiful MOC. Looks a lot like some of the newer "retro" buildings going up in cities across the US. Great detail and the scale is perfect. Regards, Eric.

How'd you get so many of those green-like pieces? A very nice 'scraper, and for some reason, through its simplicity, it looks stunning. No need to return the favor. Good day

A very nicely shaped Art Deco style tower. I also like the details at the top center of each side of the building. To answer your question as to what style it is, it is either Art Deco (if the imaginary build date in your Lego city is circa 1925-1940) or is neo-Art Deco if built in the post modern era or later (1970s to present). Original art deco is often more detailed than neo-Art Deco. By the way, I thank you for your generous comments about my Art Deco tower.

This design with the columns leading up and breaking off does look a lot better than a perfect rectangular prism. Fantastic work! I especcially like the green roof, it really makes this building look great. So are you a Celtics fan, or is there another reason for "Paul Pierce". ~T

Pretty cool. My Legoland when I was a kid had a big tower, but nothing like that. Maybe someday I'll build a tower - when I have enough pieces. I like it.

I bleed green and #34 is my favorite player of all time. We had a tough break with the injury to Garnett this year, but man I'll never forget last years run. But hey, we'll see what happens, we're still in it for now! Thanks for the comments guys, as always I will try to check out at least a few of everyone's MOCs, if I don't right away, be patient, I'll get around to it.

That is a really cool tower. At first, I thought you'd based it on Tenpenny Tower (from Fallout 3) but no, you hadn't. Ah well, it still rocks!

Wow, fantastic work. The actual tower is epic itself with all of the details that were put into it, but those other buildings don't go unnoticed either. Brilliant effort. -Dylan

Very cool, sir/madam/otter! I also think it's probably art deco. This is my favourite type of tall building. I like the room and the small offsets along the way. Oh, and nice pub sign too :) Ps: that's an impressive amount of windows.

This is a nice building. Reminds me of the Empire State builing. Really stands out. I like the smooth lines and the stepbacks. And I always like the sand green used for roofs. see ya. garth
