An ancient Greek statue created at some time between 130 and 100 BC,
it is believed to depict Aphrodite (Venus to the Romans) the goddess of love and beauty.
It is a marble sculpture, slightly larger than life size at 203 cm (6 ft 8 in) high.
About this creation
The LEGO model is build at 50% of the original size, standing 101 cm (3 ft 4 in) high and uses an estimate 6,000 bricks.
The experience with the Gargoyle (13kg) I've built, learns that large models (70+ layers) are not only cumbersome but also hard to move and have the tendency to become fragile when they are partially hollow.
With this lesson in mind I decided to use tiles to seperate torso from belly and hips.
The original statue can be admired at Le Louvre in Paris.
I would love to build a [1:1] replica one day, but i'm afraid it would have to be commissioned by a museum ...

This thing is amazing! It's especially impresive how you were able to nail the shape. I give it a 12 out of 10. |

Wow! This is probably one of the most impressive LEGO sculptures I've seen. You've really captured the essence of the original sculpture in your interpretation. |
