It was just another quiet day in one of Gotham's less dreary neighborhoods, until...
"Driving around town in a truck with a giant mallet is fine up to a point -- it's a good time, and you get to smash some stuff...but people just don't take you seriously, you know?"
Officer Cerdo and Bob Jenkins, security guard at the Hundred Dollar Store, try to flee the scene before anyone can think to demand that they take some sort of action against Harley and her death-machine.
Young Billy had been caught shoplifting at the Hundred Dollar Store, and should be thankful that Harley's impromptu rampage through the neighborhood has saved him from being hauled off to jail. The only thought going through his mind, however, is that he's afraid to look down for fear that he may find he has wet himself.
"Anyone else want to make a snide PMS comment? ...I didn't think so!"
"Mamma mia! Hey, you crazy clown-a, you chase away all-a my-a biz-i-ness!"
*Note: this is not a lame caricature based on tired ethnic stereotypes. All Italian-Americans really do talk this way. And own pizza shops. Either that, or they're in the Mafia.
Everybody's been stuck behind the moron going 10 below the posted speed limit. A rocket blast into the road just ahead of it solves that frustration.
"This is not happening, this is not happening, this is not happening, this is not happening..."
Threatened by Harley's strangely phallic dual machine guns, Batman is chased up the street with lead nipping at his heels.
"You're no superhero! You're just a crazy billionaire ninja! Nine times out of ten you'll get by with that, but not today, punk!"
"Don't-a you make-a me call-a my cousin-a Guido, eh?"
Mama said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this my mama said...
"Come on, move! MOVE! God, you run like a girl, you're gonna get us killed!"
Poor Joe, engrossed in a too-loud conversation on the street about the embarrassing details of your proctology exam, you're caught completely unawares. That Bluetooth headset you thought was so cool, but only makes it look like you're talking to yourself, won't save you now.
For no reason anyone could comprehend, Harley put a burst of lead through the window of the neighborhood's beloved Shroom and Frog store. It could have been worse -- if it had been a rocket it would have destroyed the whole front of the building. Then people would have been forced to go to the other Shroom and Frog store all the way on the other side of town.
A few of the surviving frogs decide to make a break for it.
*RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!! "Dance! I said DANCE!" *RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!!
Sometimes the bad guys do win.
Here you see a gold flag with the rare reverse wave. I had always just assumed they were all exactly the same. I found this sufficiently intriguing (did I have an ultra-rare, one-of-a-kind factory error?) that I had to check out all the wavy flags in my collection. Turns out that of forty-nine total flags (that I could find -- there may be more in the unsorted mess bin), five had the reverse wave. About ten percent. I then became curious if the reverse wave flag had its own category on Bricklink -- if you were just that anal-retentive that you had to have your flag flutter the other way, could you specifically order it? Nope, no differentiation between the two. Maybe no one's ever bothered to notice before. An amazing discovery! Another triumph for The Skunk Works!
Now go check all your wavy flags, and post the tally in your review. You know you want to.
Fantastic! I love the bullet holes in the pavement. And yes, thanks to you I just spent the last 10 minutes digging through my unsorted brick bin to find every last one of my flags. I only have 22 and they are all the same. No "alternate swoop" variants here. :(
Hey shannon!I am your biggest fan. This is my favorite creation on MOC pages.I think you are AWESOME lego builder,YOU ROCK!I was wondering if i can post a creation called Shannionia, its a microscale city.because if I did post it without asking you you would sue me.Please respond best lego builder!

out of my two or three flags (yes) i has none revese
Easy, Shannon, just give the Italian Jedi a pizza and walk away slowly. @Jedi: It's called "Ironic Satire." It's when someone says something in support of an ideal or stereotypical view, but they say it in a sarcastic way in order to admit that the ideal or stereotype in question is wrong. By saying "All Italian Americans speak that way," Shannon is actually saying, in a more humorous and verbally interesting way, that many Italian Americans do not actually fit the stereotype. However, you responded in a rash and defensive manner. In response to this, Shannon replied ironically again. Really, calm down. No one is out to get you.
"Note: this is not a lame caricature based on tired ethnic stereotypes. All Italian-Americans really do talk this way. And own pizza shops. Either that, or they're in the Mafia."
I can't believe that you would say something like that. Everyone on my mom's side of the family is 100% Italian, and not ONE of them talks like that or acts like that. you really need to go get some help. Seriously, you judge people that you don't even know. Don't put together all Italians and call them idiots like the people on a TV show.
I like the conversation, the dialogues, between the characters. I'm a young filmmaker myself, but you are just a pro in writing filmscripts.
The actionfigures are done pretty well and me and my mates were amazed by the funny way how you built the broken window by many loose bricks. I saw a lot of other things that I couldn't imagine to create them like that. You showed us that if you don't have money to collect either a cast nor crew, you can improvise with something that is even efficient to bring your "message" to the people, so this could be a great backup plan for someone like me.
You deserve a rating higher than 5!
Sweet post, Brian, MOTD worthy for sure. This is about 6 months before I joined, so I'm glad I had a chance to see some your fantastic detailing techniques. The broken window, bullet ridden street and flames to show the firing action are nothing short of superb. Now, I think I'll go check out some of this Joe Sterling's stuff...~H
what has the world come to when not even silly dressed ninjas can stop rabid clowns escaped from the circus piloting a death machine that was proberly hidden underground with the rest of the angry machines, no wait that war of the worlds anyhoo a great diorama and kudos for discovering teh flag i dont thing i had ever noticed that b4
HAhaha, I didn't knew about the flags! still, this looks amazing. Everywhere you look there is something happening. The mech looks very good, especially without the window. and the pizza guy is so funny!
I'm baffled that I haven't commented on this before. Awesome commentary. I love the Carlos Mencia-ish take on Italian-americans. That rocket hole in the road is about twice as cool as all of my yellow-stripes put together.
Before I saw this post, I was trying to make a two colored flag with an old red flag and a new dark blue one, and they didn't have the wave in the same direction. It might be lego switching the molds, like they did with the grey and bley color change.
Without a doubt, this is still one of the best dioramas I hvae ever seen on MOCpages or anywhere for that matter. The only thing that could make this better was if was turned into a stop-motion movie with Dean Martin singing "That's Amore" in the background. Or maybe Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" as Harley is trying to blow Batsy's nuts off! Just a thought.

Hey Shannon, Can I make a MOC and group campaign center for your run for ambassador?
Since I am NOT running and am NOT interested in becoming an ambassador, it would be a waste of effort on your part... However, a "Don't Vote for Young" campaign spoofing all the other "vote for whoever" MOCs and groups might be amusing if you wanted to go that route.
5?5. The mecha looks good, but the chaotic street even better!

This is too incredible, The mech is awesome, with the alternating red and black, and the buildings and cars were constructed beautifully. And it really seems to capture the fell of a crazy and hectic scene, especially with machine gun shells chasing batman down the street. Hey Shannon, Can I make a MOC and group campaign center for your run for ambassador? ~T
HA HA! Ol' Batman needs to use his Batline to wrap around the legs of that mech and trip it up. I mean, we all know that a thin cable is stronger than the hydraulic leg mechanism in any mech/walker! That tricky Harley up to her old tricks again. That is why she is tricky. 7 reverse flags out of 63. You're right, I wanted to, and it felt sooooo good to go do that.
I like the set. The mech that Harley Quinn has should have been in the LEGO Batman game (it is also good enough to be its own real LEGO Batman set, too) but then again, there was that cool Joker mech in there, so hey, I am not complaining on that point. However, should Harley Quinn or any of the bad guys from that universe be in giant mechs and tried something like that on me, I would have been on one of those giant Gundam-styled mecha and punted her like a football and then I would have raised my hands up in the air like when a referee signals for a PAT that is good. However, punting her mech like a football would have been just for starters.
Way cool with some really great details. The blown out window and the mech were two of my favorites. Maybe a wider shot next time of the whole thing. More close up pics of just the buildings and the mech by themselves would be nice. Anyway, just an idea.
Wow, I take off for a couple days and get to come back to amazing stuff like THIS! All the details have been poured over again and again here but rest assured, all are amazing. One thing bugs me though, (aside from Joe Sterling and his "Your name's not important enough for me to remember" attitude). You're building Mechs AND using Batman now? Should I keep my eyes peeled for the Clone Commander Young post next week? HAHAHA Great work Shanny! Thanks for sharing! ~ Chris.

the mech itself could use work.
Wow, with constructive feedback like that, I'll be as good a mech builder as you seem to think you are in no time!

Again though, I think some of your photos are redundant.
Again, guilty as charged. I had some different angle shots I wanted to use but they just didn't come out right. My problem is I often have captions I feel are necessary and need pictures, any pictures, to support them, rather than the other way around.
Great job, I always loved Harley, too bad I don't have her :(. I also have one of those reversed flags, I think they come with the new Castle sets (gold and navy blue).

This is hilarious Brian. I love the details like the shot-up street and broken glass. And the story is just great. Very interesting comment on the 'wavy flags'. Now I have to go check mine and see what percentage is the 'rare wave'.
Thats amazing and i have a chef that looks like yours and and that guy with the black suit next to those two people running left i love the details and everything on that MOC :^) keep up the good work!!
The broken glass is amazing. I demand to know where you got your clear cheese. All I can find is smoke. And I know what you mean about the flags. About half of my gold ones are reverse waves, a third of my red ones, and all but two of my dark blues. Like you really wanted to know. ~LL
great action szene! it looks so full of motion, yet you didn't move a single minifig...I like the details too, the broken window is probably the best, but I especially like the Marios Pizza sign, kind of simple, but very effective ;)
I was expecting his "cousin Guido" to come blow that walker to kingdom come.
Oh, and the Shroom and frog store- Utterly bizzare. How on earth do you come up with awesome garbage like that? Seriously, dude. It's brilliant.
I love the detail on everything, includiing Brickwork on the buildings, the shattered glass, and the burning gray car, not to mention the holes in the street and more! This is QUITE the achievment good sir!
Wow! I love the amount of detail you put into this, like the shattered glass, the burning car, the buildings themselves are amazing. I espicially like the hole blasted into the road, and the bullet holes leading up to Batman. This deserves to get MOC of the Day. 5/5
This work is exemplary! Urban carnage is so moving when done well, but so hard to get juuuust right! The ruined window and the asphalt are both simply perfect. Again though, I think some of your photos are redundant. Each pic should show the viewer something none of the other photos do. Make each photo "earn it's place" in the line up. Attack!
I love all of the dio, especially the Mario's Pizza place, the logo kills. Flags: 4 of 30 are "special". I noticed it before, and also went to check it on BL. And that's not the only thing BL hasn't got listed.
Oh wow. I thought this was a 'normal' town diorama when I first glanced at this. Then I saw the mecha, then I noticed its colours. Woo! What a fine job on the hole in the road with the fire, the gunshots, the broken shop window...this scene is just made of 100% of awesome!
Excellent depth of activity on a single block. Where is the Tumbler when you need it!

Well now I've got THAT song stuck in my head. Thanks a bunch. The broken window and the bullet riddled street are two of my favorite little details. I have to ask though, is that a hallucinagenic toad/toadstool store? Just curious if you have their phone number...for my friend.
I don't have much use for those flag pieces, so I didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing it out. I bet building a mech with a reversed color scheme like that was a challenge. Here's another thing I was wondering: why do you have the captions above the pictures?
great job! The detail was excellent, and the walker was flawless, i loved the leg design. Also, a nice touch was the scared face inside batman's mask. A detail I would've overlooked(even if i COULD build this good). Again, Great Job.
Wow, this ROCKS, Shannon! I love your style and attack direction for this whole build, grand work! ACTUALLY, last year when I made a larger LEGO.com order I found the difference on the flags, I thought it would be neat, flags don't always flow in the same direction, but also partly annoying. I was thinking of including them in a MOC just so I could bring up the same point... And yes, I do want to, out of the sixteen(I, like you, probably have more in another bin.) flags seven of them are reversed, it must be a newer thing. Where's 'Boy wonder', in this scene?
What a brilliant scene--all the Skankworks trimmings on this one, creative parts use and hilarious commentry. Highly enjoyable! And I only have two red flags and if you think I'm gonna check 'em you're in for disappointment my friend...
Regarding the flags... go flag yourself. ught humn. Anyways, a very enjoyable build. Harley is quite the hot item. I wish I bought some of that when I saw it for sale at the store. Just to nitpick, for completeness, the car could use more flames. =) Oh yah, that road looks way too realistic. Shouldn't even be called lego.
