Evolution of LTFD Engine 7

The last pumper made in 4-wide style was Engine 7, and Engine 7 was no ordinary pumper. It was a squirt. It also shared a house with Engine 3. Initial plans for the LTFD was that there was to be 6 firehouses. That is why Engine 7 is housed with Engine 3. When Station 7 was created, I decided to keep Engine 7 with Engine 3 and create Engines 9 & 10 and have them respond out of Station 7. Engine 7 was supposed to remain a squirt. But, that didn't pan out as I expected.
About this creation

The first 6-wide piece assigned to Engine 7.

Here, the modifications were mostly to the fron of the truck....new light bar, headlight color change and change of the grill.

Engine 7 had a ladder rack as well. It worked fine, but didn't look appealing.

Here is a completely different truck, with the standard Pierce look.

Here is the latest piece....A Pierce Impel. While everyone started going on the Velocity craze, I decided to go with the lower model Impel, with a rescue style compartments. The only reason why I changed the truck is that it looked too much like Engine 3. In houses that have just two pumpers, I try to make one of them have features that the other pumper does not have. In this case Engine 7 has extrication equipment, whereas Engine 3 does not. I have been toying with the idea of returning Engine 7 back to its roots. Does that mean the next truck will be a squirt? We shall wait and see.

I like the old school squirt, but the new Impel is awesome too. An Impel with a 75 foot stick would make an interesting E7.

Quoting James Kontoules Bob, this is one of the best Impels ever built. Quite possibly THE best. I love the black over red, it's a great color scheme. It looks even better on this rig! Added together with the evolution photos, it shows how much work really was put into this truck over the years. Excellent work as usual!
Thank you James! Funny thing is I've been contemplating making a new Engine 7. I'm not a big fan of the Velocity/Impel look. Weird thing is that when I hold and look at E7, it looks pretty good. The pictures make it look bad. I can't figure out why. :-/
